Loans or equity, either way Tan's money is locked up in the club. Turning it into equity gives him a more secure investment, otherwise he ends up in the same boat as Sam and Langstone.Red614 wrote:Has he though? I hate to be that guy , but is there ANY evidence we're debt free? Tan has paid off the debts using other debts that he then promises to turn into equity. And Tans promises mean squat right now.

As equity he could potentially lose his money if he walks before his profits balance the investment. If he keeps it as loans to himself, the club is technically debt free but if things go sour he can make all his money back PLUS interest.
I don't want to be starting a conspiracy theory, but he promised he wouldn't get involved in football matters, and lied. Why can we trust him that debt free means the same to us as it does to him?

Hard to argue with this. In an information vacuum people tend to fear the worst so it really is a case of "Wait and see." These "International Fortnights" don't half give owners the opportunity to stir things up!TDA wrote:Filip Kiss...on loan/trial for a season, then signed for £500,000. Immediately dumped into the reserves.
Etien Velikonja.....close to £2m. Obviously not up to the job.
Kevin McNaughton....new one year contract, then immediately loaned out.
John Brayford......£1.6m........but apparently either not up to standard or other problem.
Andreas Cornelius......£8m.....unproven youngster, who may yet turn out to be an injury liability. That situation is being talked down.
Let's throw in the wage bill for these guys and also the club's inability to land primary transfer targets during the summer.
I have always said that Tan could not be happy with the way that some of his money has been spent, so there may be more to this than the convenient conspiracy theory that is being kicked around.
Tony Fernandes at QPR (also Malaysian) has publically criticised his club for the way his money was used...........just a coincidence........
Problem is though TDA -football is a bit different to any other business. In the business world, even in politics, executive reshuffles are standard practice. With football, however, to be able to do this job - you kinda need to know what you are doing.TDA wrote:Just re-read the WalesOnline story and have to say that I don't see any great drama here. The guy has been at City for 8 months and obviously is not the "tea-boy" that is being touted and I presume is a capable and intelligent young man.
Given that execs tend to move seamlesslessly from one area of business to another (and football is just another business), then putting him in place temporarily makes a degree of sense.
As I said above, Tan needs to safeguard his investment....and there may be a question of loyalty if there was a leak involved. If so, Malky can have no complaints............
Thinking about Moody's remit - scouting & negotiating for the transfer of players - it's pretty specialised. What are the chances that this young man has even seen a football contract, never mind knowing all nuisances that are included in this type of contract.
The reasons, for me, why this whole saga is huge are:
A) Moody's replacement
B) The undermining of Malky's authority and job. It's clear that Malky thought very highly of Ian and would be bitterly disappointed/furious to have him suspended from underneath his nose.

Sorry Rhys, I don't agree that running football is any different to running Royal Mail or ITV2......Adam Crozier!
It's the calibre of the individual that is important and that dictates their ability to analyse the needs of the job to which they are appointed. Often, execs will have no specialised knowledge of the product being sold, just what is needed and who to bring in to make something work efficiently.
Malky can have no grumbles if there is any foundation to the "leak" theory....and as I have said above, there has been a lot of money wasted on transfers in the past two years, so Moody may have been on shaky ground anyway.

I think you are all overreacting......Kazakhstan's are well know for their canny approach and work ethic. This kid will have bags of enthusiasm and at the very worst will be able to make cups of tea whilst at the negotiating table!
Look at it this way....at the beginning of the season I would guess that most of us thought a great result this season would be to stay up...results have mostly gone our way because of the standards set by MM and his staff....so if this loon who has invested a large amount of wonga.com into CCFC starts replacing quality with pre-pubescant kids then he will be the master of his own demise and we will tumble faster than Sir Alex's legacy. Yes, it will mean CCFC find themselves back in the championship and we will have lost a great manager but if that is what is needed to highlight what cheque book men do for the clubs of this great land then so be it.
I actually have no idea what I have just said as I have been up since 2am and am starting to feel dizzy

Guess it depends how much of Ian Moody's job is a hands-off executive role, managing a talented team etc. If so, then fair enough. If however, Ian was actually very much a hands on, rolled-up sleeves-leading-the-negotiations type of guy -then this is a big problem.TDA wrote:Sorry Rhys, I don't agree that running football is any different to running Royal Mail or ITV2......Adam Crozier!Rhys wrote:Problem is though TDA -football is a bit different to any other business. Okay one more reason this is a big almighty cock up. We are quickly becoming the new Blackburn in the eyes of the media and the wider footballing community. A laughing stock.
If Moody was sacked for legitimate reasons, fair enough. In fact, if the article today just read "Moody suspended - club begins search for suitable replacement with Malky leading the process" we wouldn't all be gunning for Tan this morning, but as it is - a renewed wave of anti-tanism has been stirred up again which definitely isn't good for anyone.

...exactly.....a good media story. Let's give Tan some leeway and presume he does know what he is doing. If it turns out otherwise, then fair enough, crucify the bloke. At the moment, all we have is a story in a second rate newspaper....not exactly renowned for in depth and analytical research.......
