First topic message reminder :

Cardiff City keeper David Marshall has drawn the attention of Derby County as the Rams look to strengthen the goalkeeper position.
Marshall has been with the Welsh club for six seasons following his move from Norwich City back in 2009, and has played over 200 times for Cardiff.
An integral part of the side that won promotion to the Premier League in 2012-13, Marshall’s vast experience would be a huge asset to Derby should they pursue a transfer.
Marshall’s reputation was further increased following his single-season-stint in the Premier League, as he was voted into Sky Sports Team of the Season.
The 30 year-old keeper has also got experience at International level, having played 17 times for Scotland and earning caps at U21 level.
Much will depend on how the season ends for Derby whether Marshall would be partial to a move, although if they achieve promotion a deal for the stopper would be much more plausible.
With one game left to play, Steve McClaren’s men sit two points inside the play-offs, needing just a point to secure their spot due to their superior goal difference over Brentford and Wolves.

The clubs official confirmation is prett decent to be fair and delivers the respect he deserves. Shame that Hudson wasnt deemed worthy to get the same.

I don't know about at a lower level, but McNaughton should still be good enough for the Championship. I think I read that he had moved his family to Lancashire, so maybe this scenario was anticipated.

There are plenty of decent clubs up there.

What happened when Cardiff City boss Russell Slade met his loan exiles? Find out who has a future

16:23, 6 May 2015  By Terry Phillips

Russell Slade takes us through the 15 Cardiff players who have been out on loan and looks at what the future holds

Cardiff City had 15 players out on loan at the end of this season. Kevin McNaughton was one of them and has been released, but will others like Kenwyne Jones and Matt Connolly be back?

What does the future hold for them? Russell Slade has been meeting them and speaks about the Bluebirds loan rangers.

Adam Le Fondre (at Bolton)

RS: We have had an honest and frank conversation in our meeting. Adam believes he didn’t really settle in Cardiff and if an opportunity comes up he would like to explore it whether that is with Bolton or somebody else in the north of England.

Dialogue and the process is ongoing. There is an openness between us.

He has, with every player, received a close season programme. Adam is still our player and will be training with us from June 25 if nothing materialises.

I have not had any contact with Bolton recently, but I know for sure his agent is trying to work something out for him.

If he goes, we will want a fee. Nobody is going to steal him for nothing.

Kenwyne Jones (Bournemouth) and Matt Connolly (Watford)

RS: They went out on loan for business reasons - and it proved good business in the end.

Bournemouth and Watford were promoted and we earned a bonus. Financially it was very good for Cardiff City and the two played their part for the clubs they went to.

Kenwyne and Matt are happy to be Cardiff City players next season. That is not an issue. If things change we will let people know.

Kenwyne was our top scorer and scored a vital goal for Bournemouth which earned a highly important point. He also scored his goals for Cardiff this season and you have to respect that.

It would be great to have the big man around again if that were the case.

Declan John (Barnsley)

RS: It’s going to be a massive time for Declan when he comes back for pre-season. He got to a stage where he desperately needed to go out on loan and he went to Barnsley.

He played nine matches and we had a good chat when he came in.

That experience at Barnsley will be useful for him. He faces an important pre-season. Can he stake a claim for a first team place? He will certainly be given every opportunity.

Javi Guerra (Malaga)

RS: He is still a Cardiff City player and has his individual fitness programme for the summer. It may be that he wants to play in Spain, but we’ll see how things work out.

If we are honest Javi’s future is in Spain. He would like to find a club there. If not, we will look at that again when he comes over and maybe another loan could be sorted out.

Kevin Theophile (at St Etienne)

RS: There have been talks with St Etienne, who are interested in signing him. We will see how that works out.

David Tutonda (Newport County)

RS: We’ve watched David regularly. He has done well and has played in 12 matches for them. He is young and there are good signs.

Ben Nugent (Yeovil), Tommy O’Sullivan (Port Vale), Adedeji Oshilaa (AFC Wimbledon), Rhys Healey (Colchester).

RS: They are good young players who are under still under contract and will back for pre-season training. They understand it’s going to be a big season for them and they must come back intent on making an impact.

Etien Velikonja (at Lierse, Belgium), Filip Kiss (at Ross County, Scotland) and Joe Lewis (Blackpool).

It looks unlikely any of the three, who each have one year left on their contracts, will play a part for Cardiff. They will go out on loan or join another club.

Cardiff City transfer rumours: Wolves could launch £3m bid for Bluebirds striker Joe Mason
19:00, 16 May 2015
By Steve Tucker

Bluebirds boss Russell Slade has proved a big fan of Mason, bringing him back from a loan spell at Bolton last season and giving him a run of games

Cardiff City could be set to lose Joe Mason with reports suggesting Championship rivals Wolves are launching a £3m bid to land the striker.

After seeing his side narrowly miss out on the play-off places, Wanderers’ manager Kenny Jackett is thought to be looking to add to his attacking options next term with 24-year-old Mason at the top of his shopping list.

Bluebirds boss Russell Slade has proved a big fan of Mason, bringing him back from a loan spell at Bolton last season and giving him a run of games at the back end of the campaign and the frontman grabbed a goal in the win over Blackpool last month.

Mason responded well to Slade’s faith, building a promising pairing with fellow Cardiff frontman Eoin Doyle, but as the Bluebirds boss looks to build his squad himself this summer it is thought a bid of that size could well prove enough to force the Bluebirds’ hand.

After arriving in the Welsh capital in July 2011 for £250,000, Mason looked like making the break-through at the club under former manager Malky Mackay. He played a significant part in Cardiff’s successful Premier League promotion campaign.

But during Cardiff’s season in the top-flight, Mason barely featured and was sent out on loan on two spells to Bolton. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sent Mason out on loan again to the Trotters at the start of last season, but having seen his time in Lancashire curtailed due to injury, Slade then brought him back into the fold.

During his time at Cardiff Mason has scored 19 goals in 55 appearances.

Slade has already allowed Nicky Maynard to leave the club and if Mason were to follow that would leave him with just Doyle, Federico Macheda and Alex Revell as his recognised frontmen. Slade though is thought to be keen to add more firepower to his squad ahead of the new campaign.

Mason leaving would be a disaster, he's already proven a spark we desperately needed after only a couple of games. If we end up losing him and replacing him with some nobody from Chesterfield, I won't be sure how much more my heart can take.

I can't believe that City would be tempted by £3m. We are not that hard up and Mason's salary would not be huge. I think a striking dept of Mason, Doyle, Le Fondre & Macheda, with Revell as something different would be sufficient.

Mason is the key player who can bring any of the others into play. In fact Mason & Le Fondre has the potential to be excellent.

Championship clubs have reportedly enquired about the availability of Mason and Whitts (Wales Online).

Simon Moore linked with Leeds. Roesler was his manager at Brentford. That might well happen, if Marshall stays.

Whitts is apparently wanted as a replacement for Quinn at Hull. Although part of me reckons he won't go considering the offers he has refused in the past, the state the club is in and how the fans have treated him recently makes me not blame him if he considers it.

Make no mistake - losing him would be a devestating blow.

Amazingly quiet on this front.

Guerra apparently not wanted by Malaga and Macheda has declared that he would prefer to stay.

City are in danger of ending up with another oversized squad. The alternative is some fairly costly contract terminations at the end of the transfer window.

^^

I'm glad to see we are waiting until the end of the summer to do that. We were too quick to offload players last time around, when there was surely some money to be made.

Incidentally, Conor McAleny had an absolute stormer for Everton yesterday. Two assists, a key pass for another and a goal of his own.

Did anyone else miss Danny Johnson being released? Only realised just now he's had interest from York City after being released.

This and Adeyemi out on loan, it seems we continue to how the door to anyone with an ounce of talent despite what Slade says...

I think the Adeyemi loan makes sense. He needs regular football and just might come back a more experienced footballer, as did Joe Ralls.

I see that Dikgacoi is getting a run out at Forest Green, so hopefully, he is over whatever problems he has had and can live up to potential. If so, it would solve a huge midfield problem.

Don't think you'll see him back here, they've an option to make it permanent.

Not going to lose sleep over the Adeyemi loan move, but we are desperate for a fresh face in that position. Can't handle another season of the Whitts-Gunns pivot.
