I'm surprised there's been absolutely no mention of the fact we had a game last night and of how it went so was going to write about how underwhelmed I was with the unimaginative team selection and sterile performance. However, I have just read this article and it sums up perfectly how I felt afterwards so rather than ramble on myself, here's a link.

I was going to do a match thread, but, quite simply forgot that we had the game. We were out for the evening anyway, but that is not an excuse. Given that the U-21s had played the night before, it was obvious that he wasn't going to play any youngsters.
On the other hand, it was an ideal opportunity to use the AFC W game as a later pre-season type game for the senior squad, but I am not sure how valuable an exercise it was, apart from highlighting that some of his signings are not up to the mark.
I can see the whole Russell Slade thing ending quite badly and quite soon. The signs are there more so than ever that he is not the man for Cardiff City at this time.

TDA's spot on - a couple of faces aside, that was our first team last night. And we could only beat a league 2 team that's probably going to be in a relegation battle this season 1-0. The goal was a (admittedly very good) free kick, with no clear cut chances of note created from open play.
Even the crowd can't give a sh*t anymore. I perhaps feel sorry for Slade there, as I feel the cause is more Tans refusal to release funds for the new team and a continued rumoured slashing of established players. Regardless, it means we need the team to inspire more than ever, and Slades tactics provide anything but. Take away Noones sudden surge in form, and what have we had to be excited about?

I agree Red. I put these comments concerning apathy at the end of the article I have linked -
This article sums up perfectly how underwhelmed I felt about last night’s game. I usually celebrate enthusiastically when we score but I felt so disillusioned watching the same old tactics and unimaginative selection that by the time Noone’s free kick went in, I felt almost apathetic.
I actually think that the schism between the Club and supporters caused by the red debacle could start to reoccur, caused not by downright anger as before but this time by disenchantment with the way the playing side of things are being run on and off the field.
It worries me that despite a complete lack of forward planning, it appears that mediocrity will be enough to keep the manager and his assistant in their jobs with possibly only a run of bad results being enough to force the Club into hopefully taking action. Until then, every scrambled uninspiring point will prolong the situation and create a real conflict of interest because I can’t imagine many of us watching the City and hoping they lose.
