Malky Mackay has insisted Craig Bellamy will be back in Bluebirds action for their Championship home match against Leeds United on Saturday, September 15.
Cardiff City manager Mackay said: "Craig has a tear in his calf and will be out for a couple of weeks.
"I am hopeful he will be back for our match against Leeds.
"He is not at the training ground because I have told him to rest while he recovers."
Mackay would not talk about internet speculation on Bellamy's future and confirmed he is ruled out of this Sunday's match against Wolves, but insisted he expects him back in action for Cardiff City soon.
Wales international Bellamy missed the 4-2 defeat at Bristol City because of his injury, failing a late fitness test. Scans later showed the calf problem was more a tear and that means he will be out for longer than first expected.
Bellamy is in the Wales squad for their World Cup qualifier against Belgium at Cardiff City Stadium next Friday and there are doubts whether he will be fit for either that match or the trip to Serbia the following week.
Mackay said: "We don't withdraw our players from their national squads, either Craig or anybody else.
"That is for for Craig himself and medical staff to talk about."

Malky keeping it close to his chest imo.
He prob did give him 10 days to get his head together but using his slight calf pull as cover.
Im sure Malky is abit gutted atm but he will know we have a strong squad without him and when he comes back he will be ready & HAPPY WITH LIFE

Craig, you need to pay another visit to Sierra Leone to remind yourself again what real hardship is

it will be interesting to see if he plays for Wales or not. We might have the anti-Giggs: fit for his country, injured for his club.
