CARDIFF City talisman Craig Bellamy is set to miss the Bluebirds’ showdown with Ipswich tomorrow... and Wales’ crunch World Cup clashes with Scotland and Croatia.
Bellamy, who came off towards the end of the 2-1 victory over Birmingham, is believed to be ready to rest his troublesome knees and be fit and firing again by the time Cardiff go to Nottingham Forest on October 20.
The news comes as a blow to club and country, with Malky Mackay’s Bluebirds flying at the top of the Championship and Chris Coleman’s Wales in desperate need of World Cup wins.
Bellamy has had a significant hand in each of the Bluebirds’ last five goals, spearheading the charge to the summit as Cardiff have beaten Blackpool and then Birmingham.
He has either scored or created goals for his team-mates, or won the set pieces from which goals have been scored.
But playing those two matches in the space of just four days, where Bellamy ran his socks off, could have taken its toll on his body and Mackay may deem he has to be left out for the trip to Portman Road.
There are also significant doubts about Bellamy’s availability for Wales, who have matches against the Scots at Cardiff City Stadium next Friday and then in Croatia the following Tuesday.
Wales have to beat the Scots and try to take something from the Croatians if they are to retain any prospect of qualifying for Brazil 2014, but it’s likely they will have to do it without Bellamy.

Makes deciding our striking lineup interesting...
Anyone know if Smith is fit once again? I'd really like to see Bellamy's absence become an opportunity for Velikonja, maybe with Mason again on the right wing if Smith is unable to play.

Hope Malky doesn't opt for 4-5-1 and go looking for a point...

Yeah me too....It time for us to open a can of kick-ass on Ipswich for once! Let's give Etien a go - what's the worst that could happen?

Is Mutch going to be fit? I'd be a little less worried about the proposects of a 4-5-1 if Mutch is in there.

Rats cocks.
What's up with Mutch? He was supposed to be fit for Birmingham. He seems to have a Danny Gabbidon injury:fit next week for two months.
Typical of my bloody luck. If we'd had four first team players out injured under Dave Jones and seven sub places, I'd have got on the bench.
