I go to Cheltenham every year with a bunch of mates but I've never got past watching football in the pub.
I don't understand the concept of paying £25 to get in somewhere to lose money.

the totty was not all that posh when i went and if my memory serves me correct it was bloody cold and trying to snow. was on the railings for the run-in.awesome. they were big horses.
my great uncle was main dealer in cheltenham for the rootes group. (jaguar) prestigeous country town, prestigeous motor, so he was not short of a shilling.
uncle jim liked a flutter and in time he had to sell his business to pay his gambling debts. along came fred winter's last season as a national hunt jockey. fred had never won the gold cup, so uncle jim literally staked his all on fred winter to win. fred duly obliged and uncle jimmy won enough money to buy his business back from the bookies. moral there somewhere
