Caught on camera phone telling a fan to 'f*ck off and die'. Utterly remorseless post match too - said fans should stay at home if they can't remain positive.
There's a part of me that agrees with him, if not his actions - I never have and never will boo my own team. I genuinely don't see the point of it.
If you're going to say that to a fan as a public figure, then football is one of the few industries you can get away with it as long as you apologise profusely. If he's unrepentant, then he might just get his ass handed to him on a plate.

I think some compromise should be sought here.
Maybe he can change his statement to "fu*k off and live a long and healthy life."
Make the effort Nigel. It is almost Christmas after all.

I hope fans who can't stay positive actually don't stay at home. With our bunch of moaners I'll be feeling rather lonely down there tomorrow.

He's right, but what he said can't be tolerated. He was on the job, therefore he is representing his employer - to publically tell a person who is effectively a shareholder to go and die for expressing an opinion is not acceptable. If the local manager of B&Q called you a t*at in the middle of the car park, you'd expect him to be sacked wouldnt you?

I hope that I wouldn't have put myself in such a position as to attract such a comment in the first place. There is undoubtedly a certain amount of provocation involved here and some action probably should to be taken against the other party involved.....for use of threatening behaviour perhaps, which is a criminal offence?

The people in the crowd were in their free time, and weren't representing their employer on a global scale. Nigel Pearson was, that's different.

I'm not defending Pearson. He is in a position of responsibility and should be able to rise above such things.
However, it is a sad testiment to the continuing declining standards of public behaviour, that, people, even in their free time, should be able to verbally abuse someone else with no recourse.....unless, of course, what is said is of a racist, homophobic or sexist nature.........talk about double standards......

This just in from the BBC - Pearson has outright refused to apologise for his words at the match.
I'm starting to think he's losing it. Just say sorry for telling a fan to die for God sake.
