Forget sky sports, seating only stands, bubble trips etc - My most hated element of modern football is this american like seperation of managing the team and handling transfer affairs. The same person needs to do both - How can the manager get the team playing the football he wants if he's not in control of bringing in the players to do so?
............so far as I know, only since Laudrup was sacked, so a temporary arrangement.
How come arkay? Surely is good news - they are in a complete mess, training is due to be a shambles and, although I have no idea on where monk is with his coaching badges, it's a big ask for him to manage at the highest level with half a weeks notice!
Because most teams immediately after a sacking - regardless of how bad a state they are in - have a boost of form. I'm sure somebody can rustle up some stats to that effect too (even if the effect doesn't continue long term)
Players are usually galvanised as suddenly they are out to impress and playing for their places again. Chuck in a local derby, home advantage and a little bit of revenge and I would expect Swansea to be rabidly up for it now, whereas before, their lack of confidence and poor form was giving us the edge.

Here's another interesting stat for you - no Premier League team sacking its manager in JANUARY has ever been relegated.

I don't have a stat but I do have a point - shortly after we changed managers we plummeted to the bottom of the league, so not everyone sees a boost
That's because we played both Manchester clubs and West Ham who, again, were coming off the back of a period where they needed to rejuvinate.
Here's some more reading on the subject. Some of which does support what I say, although it does seem to be a bit of a mixed bag.

So, who knows? Maybe I'm being paranoid but it the news didn't fill me with joy when I heard it. I hope I'm proved wrong.

Malky averaged 1.59 points a match over his tenure.
Solskjaer is only averaging 1.5 points a match.
And that is a lesson on how statistics can say whatever you want them to say if you manipulate them properly.

You missed my sarcasm Dave, I was highlighting that the stats are pure b*llocks when you're trying to compare a manager who was in charge for over 120 games to a manager that's been in charge for only 6. If I was the next manager of Cardiff and my first game was a 5-0 thrashing of Kidderminster Harriers, people could say I have a 100% win record, average 3 points a game and five goals a match. It's not really fair though, is it?
