We seem to have a very wide spread of musical tastes on this board.... and we do obscure and mainstream very well... So if you had to pick 1 album, and 1 album only, to listen to for he rest of your life what would it be.... No greatest hits please gentlemen
I would like to say something cool like Revolver, Pet Sounds, Nevermind or London Calling... Which are all brilliant... But for me it would have to be Lexicon of Love by ABC

Christ this is a tough one, there are so many albums spanning nearly 50 years that mean so much to me for so many different reasons.
Right now it's probably Oh Inverted World by The Shins. My most listened to albums ever are probably Is This It and Up the Bracket, but perhaps the former of those two just edges it.

But if you're talking like ever ever ever I'd go for Blonde on Blonde, because it's just bloody brilliant and helped shape (good) music as we know it.
Inspired by Christopher Priest by any chance?Caldi Blue wrote:Christ this is a tough one, there are so many albums spanning nearly 50 years that mean so much to me for so many different reasons.

Erm erm erm, I don't got an answer for this one Rhys. Well, I have, but the answer is 'I dunno' which is a pretty fucking useless answer.
But it's a great album and most definitely worth a listen, or two, or if you really want to appreciate it, twenty. Seriously, the Shins are brilliant, one of the best bands of the noughties in my opinion, very much under-rated. Perfect indie pop.

So difficult.....!!
For the greatest, probably something like the live soundtrack of "Woodstock", as that was unique.
For personal favourite, i.e. most played, probably Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms, anything by Al Stewart or Who's Next.
Much as I love The Who, I have always thought the albums very patchy, with the exception of that one.......contains John Entwistle's greatest contribution, "My Wife".....wonderful lyrics!

The answer is Yes, Caldi. I believe The Shins are fans of the Priest. It would be too much of a coincidence otherwise.

I rushed out and bought that on cassette after Tim Westwood played Potholes in My Lawn on some late night show and played it so much it chewed up and snapped. My mate took it back to HMV and they replaced it. I remember thinking, this sort of profligacy will cost them in a couple of decades time.
