I'm gluten intolerant and have cut out pasta and bread from my diet but don't need to be really careful about breadcrumbs and the like so it's not serious. I feel great on it.
Ok, here's my question - how did you find out you were? Did you get a test or anything?
I've cut gluten, dairy and alcohol out of my diet for last two months (a miserable existence I can assure you). I monitor everything I eat but still seem to be suffering on the odd day (really bad cramps and the gory rest for half a day at a time). The NHS have so far brushed me off as I'm not actually dying or anything. Just wondering what I can do next to find out exactly what it is that's making me ill.
Any thoughts? There's a whopping 20-point thanks in it if you can help.

My GP sorted out a blood test to check the level of a specific antibody to wheat proteins. Once this was confirmed (not very serious as I said) I cut out the big wheat items and felt better almost immediately. It sounds like you need to go through a process of elimination and testing to pinpoint what the issue is. Try your GP again.

Food for thought, literally. Yup, I totally used to mock people with food intolerances (not allergies, as they are properly serious) as I generally felt they were psychosomatic but this has damn well come back to bite me in the arse, almost literally. I'm much more than a bloated stomach but much less than anaphylaxis and it's been like this for four months - boooo! The most frustrating thing is not knowing what's causing it but I think threatening my GP with a gun should get some answers, or at least, free bed and board at her Majesty's convenience.

So, she's a redbluebirdbird? Awesome. Thanks most kindly for the offer Wolfy. I'm going to pressure the NHS a bit more first but may come back to you on this. Got this favourited for now - cheers!
