Yup, alongside Noone he has been the standout player for us this season and the most likely to make something happen. Although, I would say he has been more consistent than Noone.

Question is, will Hodgson (or the English press) notice? Caulker is on the radar but I've not seen any indication that Mutch is in contention.

Interestingly enough, Gloves posted a similar article a few days before the Metro blog:

He has been superb, particularly recently. Long term, if we kept Caulker, Mutch, Daehli, Noone etc we would be looking good  Jordon Mutch for England 1525230823

He's not exactly set the league on fire either yet. If be very surprised if we had another team come in for him when you can summarise his play thus far as 'hasn't emberrassed himself yet'.

I like Mutch but I don't think an England World Cup space is on the cards, with Gerard, lallana, Barkley all have great seasons, maybe the next Euros

But as Gloves points out adequately in his article, Mutch has been a better, more consistent, player statistically speaking than Barkley.

The press have not really sat up and paid too much attention to us really. I'm mixed on if I think he should go to Brazil or not - He's got a massive future but hopefully we can keep hold of him a bit longer.

Also gloves, looks like your article inspired the metro blogger!

Mutch can be player of season and top scorer, but will get overlooked cos he plays for Cardiff, rather than Berkley who plays for Everton, just my.opinion of course

Agreed, the bias against smaller clubs will ensure Mutch doesn't go...although that could be to our benefit as it would heighten interest in him from bigger clubs if he did travel

Good piece gloves. Mutch is an outstanding player and will only get better in the next few seasons (as will Barkley). Unfortunately for him, he won't get a look in this summer because, as already said, he isn't playing for a team in the top 6 (or 7).

With Lampard and (possibly) Gerrard playing their last tournament this summer there are potentially two spots available and Mutch will surely get his chance in the team.

England have a good future in the centre midfield department with the two mentioned as well as Wilshire (if he stays fit) and Will Hughes from Derby, who is still only 19!

Anyway, back to our (for now) boy. Mutch has impressed me immensely this season and plays older than his 22 years would suggest. It would seem he is the full package; he's a great ball carrier, has two great feet, scores goals, takes a good set piece, is strong in the air and in the tackle. Sometimes you feel he should take more control of the game...until again you realise he is playing his first season in the centre of midfield in a struggling Premier League team.

Mutch indeed holds the key for our Premier League survival, if he stays fit we have half a chance.

Without him and Marshall we would have long since been relegated.
