According to CityGent, Manchester United asked to trigger Daehli's buy back clause this week, as he could be the creative spark their midfield is crying out for. He turned them down to sign for us.

I think we now see the benefit of the change of manager. Would Malky have been able to swing a signing like this?

Probably a bit unfair on Malky really, he brought Kim in when he had interest from Dortmund, and Caulker was also a coup considering he could be a future England starter. The current trend is to mock his transfer activity and budgeting, but he could pull a blinder too.

I haven't changed my stance on Malky one bit, as I have always said that he was not high profile enough to land his primary targets, i.e. the calibre of player we needed this season.
Agreed, he did land some decent players, but opinion is that he had to pay over the odds to get them..............throw in a bit of poor judgement and panic buying and you have got a right b*gger's muddle.
What he did in his first season was exceptional, but he was working within his comfort zone. In my opinion, his best pieces of business were Aron Gunnarsson, Joe Mason and Fraizer Campbell.

He is a truly class player. Let's not forget United's own academy rated him higher than Adnan Januzaj when he was 16. If people are comparing you to Xavi you know you are a major talent. People may not see how big a coup this is for a little while but it's big!

His only weakness is that he's a bit weak to be honest as he's a small player but in the Premier League that doesn't matter so much if you've got that extra speed on the turn and can lose your man that way and win free kicks.

Surprisingly, he doesn't have speed, just a bag of tricks.......in the Joe Mason mould!

It's a difficulty he has to overcome but I wouldn't say it's a problem if he has the ability. Cazorla and Ozil cope just fine considering their limited physiques, and Kimbo is one of the nastiest tacklers I've seen in a City shirt for a whileJB39 wrote:His only weakness is that he's a bit weak to be honest as he's a small player but in the Premier League that doesn't matter so much if you've got that extra speed on the turn and can lose your man that way and win free kicks.
