This may sound off coming from me, but the more I think about it, the now I realise how clever Tan was with this appointment.
He signed a young manager with a great knowledge of the English game and a fantastic reputation among the top teams in the league. This should allow him to find his feet faster, and open up a whole bunch of opportunities for loan deals. He's still tipped as a potential top four manager - meaning Tan could stand to make a huge profit if he is poached. He's also on a rolling contract, so even if he doesn't work out then we can cut strings without too much financial loss.
He plays a manner of football that fans are going to like - he backs a young team with plenty of pace and hard work , that will play out from the back and aim to play very attacking football. He's also however a fond believer of Malky's ethos - every player needs to give 100% every single time.
I also read another article this morning that carried on a familiar trend - a close friend of Solskjaers said he had total control at Molde and relished it. Cardiff weren't the only club that wanted him, so on the surface picking a team that might give him minimal control is completely bizarre. If you ignore the rumour it's just about the money, he clearly saw something that many others haven't. Something clicked, we just don't know what.
The next month is critical however - Solsjaers legacy at Molde is bringing in youth players and getting them playing great football. Molde didn't have much money, so he relied heavily on that sort of system and it worked spectacularly - Molde hadn't won the league in 100 years, yet Solsjaer brought immediate success and then even more amazingly repeated it the next year. He's never been faced with money however, and Tan has already been burnt by a manager who's focused on spending 'for the future'. He needs to play it very carefully - bring in lots of promising teenagers and tans skin will start crawling, but bring in lots of veteran players like Odemwingie and the fans will start blaming Tan again. If he plays it smart, Tan will sit back and trust him , and in turn Tan will leave the fans minds. It could be the start of a recovery.

I wasnt going to read your post red, because they are always lengthy, but I think u have a point, OGS may bring mix of players to balance the squad "ones for the future" who can make the grade when called upon. and veterans to help us stay up,
It will also be interesting to see who the gaffer plays and not malkys favourites,

Agree totally, from the rumours going around Malky fell out with to many players and that was them finished as far as he was concerned. I don't think for one moment OGS will be the same at all.
I am feeling so much more confident for the remainder of the season and am looking forward to see who the young players he brings in are. I bet those players will be ready now to go into the team now rather than ones for the future.

Wow Vin, you sure know how to make a guy feel important...
And agreed Matt, I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens today - both in the selection and the playstyle. What's more our cup run may not be over afterall - Newcastle will probably shuffle their pack significantly, and Pardew would have no idea whatsoever with what Solsjaer will be planning. I think everyone had begun to see Malky's hand by the time he left, but Ole's is still firmly under the table.

there is a story circulating that mehmet and ogs knew each other well from his man u days. mehmet is still a man u season ticket holder and i doubt if it is in the stretford end. md brokered/financied/lubricated the glazier buy-out of man u and the story suggests that ogs could well have been passing advice to messers dalman and tan

Would OGS have much experience in the sort of matters Tan and Dalman would of needed advice in? Tan has been proven to f had contact with the likes of Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho. If he needed help with footballing matters, surely he would of considered those first?
I'd just like to live in a fairytale personally where the matters inside the club are completely different to what they think they are. Maybe all it was (rebrand aside) was that Tan made a few amateur mistakes with his handling of things and the British press reacted likea pack of wolves. Now is his chance to prove he's not as bad as people think he is. I'm still not sure, as is well documented, but I'm willing to listen, forgive and forget, depending on where we go from here.

There's a reason Tan was eager to let Malky go, and Dalman only had one target...they already knew Solskjaer well.
I think Tan is probably impressed by his shrewd transfer dealings, an area Malky is pretty erratic in.
Anyone else seen the rumour that Malky wants Odemwingie back if he takes on WBA?

He's welcome to him. He can even have him free if we can swap for Shane Long...

I'd pay them to take Odemwingie. He's been a massive let down as I thought he would do a job for us!

90% effort, 10% ability is his downfall, much like Gestede and Helguson before him. The one area of Malky's transfer dealings it's impossible to defend is his choice in strikers... I think there's a very interesting story behind all of this, unfortunately we'll probably never get to hear it.

Odemwingie, if he went back to a club under Malky, would be very bizarre due to his lack of performance for us

Ok I'll forgive you.
OGS seems happy with Tan and Dalman's version of events so I do think Malky was a nice guy but far from the whiter than white manager we believed him to be
