i am reminded of what a friend said to me during and at the end of last season that the first thing we had to do was get rid of malky. he is and was right. when i echoed a similar view on this board i got crucified

Not by me, my friend!davewebber65 wrote:a friend said to me during and at the end of last season that the first thing we had to do was get rid of malky. he is and was right. when i echoed a similar view on this board i got crucified
His tactics have been far too easily worked out by the better managers in the Championship and there are far more of those in the PL...........I'd loved to have seen Gus Poyet here if Malky had gone to Everton.....

Nor me. The bloody nails were too soft and kept bending. Your views were shared by quite a few Dave and there are still those among us who will give MM just about 6 weeks to make an impact or feel the sharpness of the blade. I really hope it doesn't come to that because I believe that all managers and teams need time to adjust to the dizzy heights, but we need to establish a competitive winning formula as a base to stay in this league. We'll beat Man C just for starters and then watch us fly.davewebber65 wrote:no it was not you tda

I would have said your views were criticised rather than you being crucified though maybe you think of them as the same thing.davewebber65 wrote:i am reminded of what a friend said to me during and at the end of last season that the first thing we had to do was get rid of malky. he is and was right. when i echoed a similar view on this board i got crucified
I thought that firing the manager that has just got you promoted would be both stupid and arrogant and i still believe that.
Mourinho gave up waiting for the City job and went back to Chelsea anyway so Malky is the man at the moment. I for one am going to take the crazy line of least waiting to see what the squad is at the end of the transfer window before loading any bullets into the gun.

Toastie......a fair and balanced approach, but for some of us the evidence of Malky's limitations were plain to see last season and even the season before.Toast Boy wrote:I would have said your views were criticised rather than you being crucified though maybe you think of them as the same thing.davewebber65 wrote:i am reminded of what a friend said to me during and at the end of last season that the first thing we had to do was get rid of malky. he is and was right. when i echoed a similar view on this board i got crucified

I'm in the middle ground. I have doubts about Malky's ability to quickly react to a game that's running away from us. When our starting tactics come good we tend to run games out well, but if they are proving unsuccessful Malky has this far failed to ever adapt to this. Can anyone actually ever recall a match under Malky where we have completely turned around a game that was considered lost
But honestly guys, take a step back a second. You don't sack a manager that won the division title. You're talking like if Malky was a tactical genius but only led us to 5th you'd be happy, but winning the title shakily isn't good enough? He deserves at least half a season to prove us wrong.

Losing is always disappointing but perspective is everything.

Phew, at last a bit of positivity! There's a lot more positivity on CCMB at the moment than there is on here. Was anyone really expecting us to take the PL by storm?Red614 wrote:But honestly guys, take a step back a second. You don't sack a manager that won the division title. Losing the first game away from home is hardly a surprise. No doubt things could have been done better, but it's all part of a steep learning curve, both for the players and for Malky. Wales Online quotes Sam Allardyce after the game saying we shouldn't panic, it's an incredibly difficult task we've got, and for once he's talking sense. We will be doing extremely well just to avoid relegation, and we have to expect to lose considerably more games than we win.

I agree with most of that and let's not forget that Malky hasn't unleashed two of his stars yet - Smith and CowieThe Tonker wrote:Phew, at last a bit of positivity! I am not calling for Malky's head now, but I feel his departure will be inevitable, as it will be quickly seen that his style of play will not create enough chances to win games in the PL. No winger even on the bench yesterday and Rudy as first alternative........
