As a boy I used to have an Adidas Tango football, we played with it in the street despite it being a leather ball. Of course, it didn't take long for the leather patches to fall off the ball leaving the brownish cloth exposed.
The ball deflated slightly over time which made it easier to do keep-up-skills (I could do hundreds back then) but one day during a game of spot on, my mate David kicked the ball over a garden fence and we heard my neighbours dog angrily rip it to shreds.
It was the best ball I ever had and I was glad it died an honourable death in battle, even if it lost its life to a hateful misanthropic canine.

I used to play football in the lane at the back of my house with my three brothers (3-and-in of course). The garage was the goal, and it was always better when we were able to open the sliding doors so it felt like a real goal, where we were able to smash the ball into the net (or in this case, the brickwork in the back wall). There was a ramp at the garage entrance, which played the part of the defender clearing off the line.
We used to play footie over the Athletic Field in Penarth and regularly used to boot footballs over the walls into the the various gardens that backed onto it. The braver and more hardier souls would attempt to retrieve them by stealthily scaling the wall or diplomatically negotiating with the homeowner. Sadly though, many a Tango went MIA during those days...

I had a proper segmented leather ball with laces... which I think was a hand me down from my brother...when it got wet it weighed the same as dark matter and a good old 50 yard full pelt schoolboy toe poke would end in a sports sock full of toe nails or hospitalisation

My first proper football was an Adidas Azteca.
Used to go to Hailey Park for a kick-about with my Gramps.

They dont make footballs like they used to. The Tango and the Azteca really are lovely. And those Mitre Ultimatch of the old(er) football league days.
