First topic message reminder :
Promotion is now a very serious possibility. This would be an amazing achievement, but I find it quite sad that many of the players who will have worked so hard to get us to the Premiership won't be in the team if we get there.

I have a feeling Tan and possibly some eastern friends he may introduce will chuck serious money around meaning that most of today's squad will become history by August. If it goes well we will remember them fondly but not for long. If it goes badly we will be saying why oh why didn't he stick with the ones who got us here! Having said that there's a long way to go. We are Cardiff City and we are not there yet!

Ignoring any pressure that may come from owners, Malky will hopefully look to Norwich and (whisper it) Swansea when they first made it up. The best way to survive te premiership and improve within it is to not do too much to change the squad that has already won one title, at least not straight away. QPR have shown flashing the cash on a squad of superstars can have disastrous effects as what you have is not a team but a group of talented individuals with no communication.
Best policy in my opinion is simply pick one or two players that you feel are the weakest in the starting eleven. Preferably not two from the same 'row' of play, DEFINETELY not two in the defence. Then splash the cash and replace those two with top quality premiership players. Then in January once those players have had time to fit in properly, pick out the next weakest player and replace him with another top drawer player. The team will evolve slowly enough so you don't damage that team ethic but quickly enough simultaneously you could start surprising people. One of my favourite football sayings this year has been 'a team that's used to winning in one league will naturally have the same desire to win in the next division', and I think it's very true.

Nah! Moyes to Man Utd, Malky to Everton..........

Goalkeepers:
Marshall
Defenders
Hudson
Turner
Nugent
Midfielders:
Whittingham
Kimbo
Noone
Mutch
Harris
Strikers:

Replacing the team is the wrong way to go about doing it. Team spirit is everything in staying in the league IMO. Look at Norwich (and Swansea to an extent), they brought in a load of players who had never played a single PL game - hungry players who would fight for a shirt and a place in the team.

You won't be quite so cavalier when you go to log on here next season and find yourself banned along with the rest of us because Rhys has imported in some expensive, high profile, premiership quality message board posters.

You do a wonderful rearguard action Red in trying to remind everyone this is a football messageboard when quite often all around you is an online version of your fellow team mates lazing around listening to their ipod or laying in the gutter high or drunk.
However now you've set those high standards you will be expected to keep them up or you could be next years Velikonja.
Pressures on Red (again).

I fully expect and deserve to be relegated to a lower division Kabbaddi, Porno, Swansea site
But in the mean time I'm going down swinging...
