He had a great record until he went to a pants team.

There's a good reason Malky has been after him for a while and I suspect Fergie wouldn't have kept him for as long as he did if he didn't have the potential to be a good goalscorer. He's got an England cap as well.

I could see him knocking them in for us no problem, then adding Austin or Sordell in the summer.

Six months left on his contract so he should be cheap but he's not the player we are missing. We need someone with a bit more presence.

His only experience in the championship came with a loan to Hull in 07-08. He scored 19 in 33 games and they won promotion through the playoffs. He picked up an impressive goal tally during a loan in the Belgian second division (I didn't know they had a second division), but was otherwise unremarkable with The Spurs loan and then his permenant move to Sunderland.

Ill be honest, his tally in his one season in the championship fits into the 'not bad' category, but he's not a particularly exciting addition right now. I took time to come around to Maynard, and I'm also starting to come around to the idea of Sordell. But I'm struggling to be pleased here.

Red - I'm struggling to think who we might actually sign, if anyone. We need an out and out target man.

And one that will hit the ground running at that.
