So yeah, my finances finally managed to free up enough funds for me to sort out my FIFA 13 preorder in the last day I actually could guarantee a copy, so now I'm excited. As I've said first game I've had on the console since FIFA 10 and playing the demo intrigued me (Note - screaming 'why the f**k is my defender dancing when he's supposed to be running!' Repeatedly at the screen), it's obvious it's going to take me a while to adapt.
Here's a question though, I know in be a pro mode you face being loaned out at the start I you career, but everything I've read says that's if 'you sign for top tier teams in a country'. So...do you know if Cardiff City count as a 'top tier' team, or are all championship teams automatically lowly because try aren't in the top league of the country? Basically, I'd be a touch disappointed if I sign for Cardiff as a 16 year old and I'm immediately in the first team 11. It may sound weird but I like the realism in line with having to learn the trade at League 2, league 1 teams hoping to get a chance as a late sub for Cardiff to prove myself. It would be a proper goal, as opposed to where if I'm Cardiff first team from day one it would feel like the goal is to attract Barcelonas attention.
Any light anyone could shine on this would be great.

I think the loan thing must be a new feature as it wasn't on FIFA 12, for Cardiff at least.
To be fair, the be a pro feature really needed some work. I much prefer FIFA to PEZ usually but this is one area in which pez has been better. In pez you have an agent, you start in the development team and after a while you earn the right for 10 minutes at the end of the game in which you have to impress. It takes a while to establish yourself and for the other players to trust you. For a while they tend to avoid passing to you. Your skills improve over time, the EPL won't even look at you for the first 2-3 seasons. But you may get picked up eventually.
Its overall a lot better than FIFA's version of the mode. Lets hope its been improved this year.

It is indeed a new feature, and I agree it definetely needed some work, albeit only from my slim experience. In FIFA 10's version I played centre back, and was getting set targets of scoring twice a match. I had two options, continually break ranks and charge forward with the strikers and get chastised for leaving the defence wide open, or ignore my target and eventually get dropped back to the bench, with the manger completely ignoring my 95% tackle accuracy and grand total of 0 crosses getting past me all season. The only true way to succeed was to play as a striker, which is a shame because the other roles can be just as fun to play.

I was a PES man in the PS2 days myself too, and I've got to be honest it ruined it slightly when instead of Van nistelrooy you had 'orange204576' or whatever the hell they named him

Yeah I've heard actually the fact you had to do that was actually a selling point for many of the realism freaks so to speak. Me though I simply can't be bothered, I want the realism but I want it given to me and not have to create it. I've heard lots that because FIFA 13 gameplay wise is very similar to 12 you could just buy that half the price and renovate Cardiff by simply in game transferring during the windows. But honestly there's too much effort in it for me, and besides on iPhone FIFA 12 everytime I try and buy Bellamy on a free transfer you can virtually hear the sounds of Liverpool laughing at me coming out of the speakers.
That used to drive me nuts on PES too, although I eventually conceded and used to buy pre-updated memory card with all the right players, teams and kits. I'd still do City myself mind and add in a mysterious cowboy looking black haired fella at number 11 with a silky right foot...
(note: silky right foot not actually that helpful when playing football but it does feel very nice)

For your sake I hope you're right, I would be ticked off if I went to a midnight launch only to get refused
Unfortunately some of us work 9-5 so midnight launches are beyond my capabilities. However, if someone can let the postman know that dropping the game through my letterbox about half 7 tomorrow morning, so I can actually play it before I leave for work, it might earn him a tip (of whatever change is in my pocket...I think about 10p).

Will play FIFA until my lecture, get a taxi up and then come home and sleep for ages then play FIFA all weekend with odd visit to see how the ladies on the net are looking and performing these days.

Considering walking the streets at this time in the morning looking for the postman, utility bill in hand to prove my address is perfectly normal behaviour when you're waiting for a FIFA delivery, right?
Fella's do any of your shop at Sainsburys?
They normally do a deal (Well they have in previous years) that if you buy a shop over £50 you can get the game for £27 - cracking deal if you normally shop there anyway.
It's a kinda 'while stocks last' deal.

To answer my initial question, I signed as an eighteen year old attacking midfielder for Cardiff. Features prominently in the friendly schedule but then was told I was unlikely to replace Mutch (my position rival) anytime soon and would be loaned out because of it. I'm now on a year long loan with Portsmouth, who aren't having a great season so far. Not my fault though, I'm a passing machine.
