Just thought I would get a pre-match thread going.

I have to say well done to Malky, he went 4-4-2 and defied those who said he would stick to 4-5-1 and dropped Cowie. I thought a draw would have been acceptable but a Whittingham hat trick was brilliant.

And we still have Kimbo, Bellers and Velikonja waiting in the wings!

Rhys, any chance you can merge the two post match threads?

I reckon you should have the two threads compete in a winner-takes-all deathmatch.

Haha just noticed that! Unfortunately my dad is, I've repeatedly been reminded of his 3-1 City prediction. He does tend to get them right...

The Colonel has decided - not much I can do about it now.

I'm going with this thread. That was the first time down the City for a couple of years where I found myself thinking we're going to win this. Absolutely brilliant. It was a bit chaotic but the new signings are a step up and the old timers raised their game as well. To have Cowie, Gunnar and Mason come on shows how far we've come. I've said before that the winners of the this league need to romp home and everybody else needs to fight for second place. This is the best City team ever assembled - it's there to be won. We've done the nervous, sliding around in the background shite and it doesn't work. On today's performance we'll be top in 8 week's time.

I'm with you on this. Blackburn are like a team who have unlimited cash but don't have a clue. £8 million for Rhodes is farcical. Our signings however look exceptional value and we have been the most astute of our rivals by far

Playing in that midfield, I think that Whitts must have thought that he had died and gone to heaven. There was so much pressure taken off him.

The three goals were a bonus, but his overall play and effectiveness were the best I have seen for a long, long time. Okay, he bossed the home game against Palace (CC semi), but they had surrendered midfield......

Malky may have the luxury of being to be able to take him off later in games, given the quality we have...........it has to be said, also, that Gunnarsson & Cowie looked far more like early last season when they came on to protect the game.

If everyone is happy with his role in the squad, City are going to take some stopping this time.

PS..............honourable mentions for Tommy Smith & Helgusson for running their socks off and putting themselves about. The Wolves defence knew that they had been in a game today......... Cardiff 3-1 Wolves 1525230823

Everyone today played out of there skin and Noone , T Smith ,Maynard really impressed me.

Abit gutted that kimbo and velikonja didnt get a run out but apart from that we really displayed our class today.
