5-1 ft. Two for Noone second half. Murphy excellent in goal.

Quite a strong team for that fixture. With the exception of Murphy, the turned out senior players are in the shop window.

I have always felt sad about what happened to Hereford. I don't know whether they will do an Aldershot or a Newport, but it would be nice to see them back at a higher level in time.

They're now at the same level as Merthyr and are a thriving, fan owned club who've been promoted almost every year since reformation.

Livingston tonight, I presume ..... laugh

No team news let, but we may see a starting line up close to what may happen in reality. Junior Hoilett is back and must figure at some point. I can't see him not being a starter. He should be fit, having played through pre-season with Canada.

Interesting opposition, being, like Plymouth, a newly promoted club and having ended last season in form. I would like to have been at the game tonight. Maybe a half decent crowd as well.

Crowd not brilliant, but I don't think the weather was helping.

Mullen & Knox both playing for Livi tonight, so maybe Warnock having another look at them. Knox was a late inclusion. Pre-Season Friendlies thread - Page 4 4228682415

You're right about the weather - shocking. Is it live in France?

No, despite the original schedule, nothing pre-season has been broadcast. Hopefully, they will get things sorted by the Burton game.

An enjoyable evening. Great to see Neil Alexander given a standing ovation and doing the ayatollah in return with ten minutes to go.

There seem to be a few injury concerns this morning. Although the pre-season opposition was, in the main, gentle, the six games in 14 days was quite an intense schedule.

I'm intrigued by the different schedules managers like to use during pre-season. Under Malky, for example, I remember we didn't play our first friendly until the end of July, when most of our rivals had played five or six matches.

But Warnock has done this 35 times now so he quite clearly knows what does and doesn't work.

I'm sure Dave Jones used to adopt a similar approach playing in a few pre-season tournaments to get the fitness levels up. There really is no accounting for getting match fitness by playing games but then with the Championship season being such a slog, you could also argue that players risk burn out sooner.

Your mention of Malky prompted me to look up what he's doing right now - Performance Director of the Scottish FA, apparently appointed amid protests it seems:

I went along to one of them - the famous Algarve Cup of 2008, a success we celebrated long into the night.

Don't suppose there is any right or wrong, though more and more managers from the Premier League elite now complain about fitness coming second to sponsorship.
