FGR 3 City 1.
Not a brilliant start in terms of result, but it looks like Trollope was running his eye over the younger players, which is an encouraging approach. I can't think of any other reason for that lineup.

Not seen anything of the game yet, including line-ups, etc. But they did say it would be a 'Select XI' Cardiff side.
Incidentally, under MM we would still be a whole two weeks away from our first fixture of the summer!

Shrewsbury away today. No team news yet, but something more like the Championship starting XI (that's 11 for Rhys) is expected.

I see that Tom Adeyemi and Matt Kennedy also got game time today. Perhaps Trollope will be able to get the best out of Slade's rejects?
No Joe Ralls today. Don't know whether he is injured, but he surely will feature prominently this season.

I was following whilst watching Dover v Leyton Orient this afternoon!
So refreshing to hear that City used a different formation and different players were given a chance.
Interesting to see Adeyemi come on as I'd forgotten he was with us!

Peltier & Ralls ill apparently.
If, as seems likely, with Fabio & John back and Jazz Richards coming in, there is a commitment to using wing backs, I wonder if Trollope might play Peltier more centrally with Manga & Connolly?

Great result!
We definitely have the players to make the 3-5-2 formation work, particularly with Richards due to join in next few days.
Connolly, Manga and Morrison as the three; Connolly the man to move into midfield to win back possession.

Oops! That was a bit of a farce.
I would have that the condition of the pitch would have been considered beforehand.

Was a bit shambolic. Oh well - two more games to come this weekend!

Nevertheless, there seems to have been some plus points from the City performance. Tutonga and Ajayi at CB and Noone in central midfield.
I can remember many, many years ago, Jimmy Scoular converting our star winger, Barrie Jones, to a midfielder and we nearly got promoted........

Tutonda has always looked more of a wing back to me but he's left sided and I'm not sure if any of our other centre backs are.
You're showing your age talking about Barrie Jones. Unfortunately, I remember him well. Great player until a leg break.
