Taking the Wigan job was an error. They didn't have a hope this year.

Taking the job feels like it was the actions of a desperate man now. Taking a club doomed for relegation and then taking it back up to a mid table finish could of been the only thing that would have stopped his rapidly crumbling managerial career. But it's backfired, and now he has to face misconduct charges, fraud allegations and being the face of Wigans relegation. No hope from there I reckon beyond a lower Divison side taking a gamble and working back up from there.

Dave Whelan must also be feeling a bit sheepish.

Look at all the problems he caused for himself by giving Malky the job in the first place in what turned out to be a pointless appointment.
