i always used to regard them as dangerous. was at peterborough last season when one went off in our section of the crowd.
having said that the clubs/countries/grounds that introduce pyro-technics at the start or end of a match encourage encorouge smoke bombs etc

I quite like pyrotechnics pre-match as they can ramp up the atmosphere, as proven in recent Welsh rugby matches at the Millennium Stadium. I think it's the mindset of the person doing it, they are morons who would do it irrespective of whether the club has used them.
I have no idea why someone would use a smoke bomb or flare at a sporting event though.
