Well he's highly unlikely to ever compete for France considering the likes of Benzema and Giroud stand in his way.
According to his Wikipedia page though he is actually a Benin national, he was just born in France. In which case - good for him.

He holds French, US and Benin passports so all 3 were options.
Played for France at U-19 level, but probably deemed not good enough for the US team.

Although he hasn't had much game time, to my mind Rudy is a much improved and confident player than he was last year.
If he was able to get a run in the side, he just might be able make the step up and if that was the case, the perhaps the call would come from the USA......
Benin also have Stéphane Sessègnon, who is doing a pretty good job at Sunderland.
