First topic message reminder :
It appears this is genuinely happening. They have a 200 follower strong twitter account and are applying for entry into the non league ladder.
The name. The name. The name. It gives me far more embarrassment to know we're going to be linked to causing that then anything Tan has done or potentially ever could do.

I didn't know he was mates with Borley? I thought he allied himself with Hammam? And I thought he was sure to be behind a splinter football team, because he would be back in the know and a key player again

Didn't know they had been on holiday together. Langstone should be settled before next season, or at least that's the impression I had but yes Scam will come back with it

Well a splinter team would be ideal, channeling all their anti-rebrand rhetoric into something far from the CCS
Yeah, if people feel that their club had died, or whatever, let them setup a new one- would give us all a break tbh. The name is ridiculous though and I'm not sure it will stick, AFC Cardiff City would be much better.
Personally, I wish them all the best and, if it actually gets off the ground, I would keep an eye out on their progress from time to time

It's quite an exciting thing to do and I wouldn't wish them any malice either, however if it does become the anti-Cardiff City bandwagon I believe it would, it becomes difficult to support it as much...
Regarding the formation of FC United of Manchester, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has questioned the loyalty of fans who decided to form the splinter club and the motivation behind the forming of F.C. United in a 2006 book:
"I'm sorry about that. It is a bit sad that part, but I wonder just how big a United supporter they are. They seem to me to be promoting or projecting themselves a wee bit rather than saying, 'at the end of the day the club have made a decision, we'll stick by them'. It's more about them than us"

Am I the only one who thinks it should be FC City of Cardiff, surely?

FC Cardiff City/FC City of Cardiff would be acceptable, or United Cardiff City FC if this is an anti-rebrand team!

Wouldn't Cardiff City FC object to these on the grounds of over-similarity?Slumdog's Son™ wrote:FC Cardiff City/FC City of Cardiff would be acceptable, or United Cardiff City FC if this is an anti-rebrand team!

Why not just Bluebirds FC?
The name may not ever get accepted by the football leagues top divisions, but you deal with that problem when you get there.
