Just catching up with what has happened last week and the Championship table makes for interesting and encouraging reading......
The team giving out the freebee scarves is kicking on regardless on the obvious disquiet of their fans, whist below, the pack are gathering for a final assault on the other automatic spot. As I see it.....
Hull are well placed with points in the bag. They are winning ugly when they need to, just like City, but they still have to play the other teams, apart from Leicester, that make up the top six.
Watford's Italian mercenaries have hit form and could well be the team to watch, but they do have City, Hull & Leicester still to play.
Palace's run in looks fairly straightforward with home games against Leicester and Hull the most difficult. Consistency has been their problem and they could fall away with a bad result or two.
Leicester are not looking so clever all of a sudden, thanks to their FA Cup commitments. They have two games in hand over the second placed Hull, but would have to win both to get back into an auto spot and then only on goal difference. They still have to face City, Palace & Watford. Games in hand are all very well, but they have to be won and that is not so easy once the unplayed fixtures start to pile up.
Middlesbro' have imploded........
I'd love to see Hull get the second place, but my head says Watford will nick it...........

It is a bit of a leap, I'll grant you that, but I can't see two teams making up the points difference on us, particularly as many have to play each other......

I think Leicester will fade away, leaving Hull, Watford and Palace to fight it out for 2nd place. It would be really disappointing if City don't go up as champions from this position.
Campbell's performance yesterday gives further optimism, since the team has missed a 'fox in the box' since Maynard was injured.

Do we still need someone who's 'hairier in the area'?....Helguson just doesn't fill that role imo.......

We need someone who is more like a 'bone in the zone' imo

This is what years of cynicism does to a man.
Having followed City for 50 years I feel exactly the same. However having watching the performance yesterday I got the distinct impression that this team knows that they are good enough to piss this league.

They did look incredibly assured yesterday. There will probably be some temporary blip in terms of a match we expect to win or draw but slip up on but like the Peterboro result i think the team will put it behind them and keep picking up the points.
The only thing worrying me at the moment is how confident i feel about it. It just doesn't feel right as a City fan.

I'm not confident at all... Yesterday was great but that was the exception not the rule... Brighton will be a real test and I sincerely hope we can turn on that magic again

After yesterday I think I'm up to 6 and after Tuesday it could be 7 and if we beat Wolves away I'll be off the scale!
