First 5 games - how many points?
Page 1 of 1 • Share
Looking at the first five games (see fixtures thread!), I have to say that realistically I would be very happy with 11 points.
3 wins and 2 draws against either Wolves, Leeds or Brighton.
Although I think that Wolves are really going to struggle this year- they haven't got a quality 'straight back to the premiership' playing squad and their new Norwegian manager has no experience of the English leagues never mind the championship!

I'm going to keep my powder dry until the shape of the squad for next season is known. Looking at those five games, I think that could turn into a tough opening to the season.

Brighton (A) = draw
Bristol City (A) = win

Tbh far to optimistic I reckon Huddersfield could be a bit of a wildcard. Remember that malkys more than likely going to play miller up front. And he's not exactly sparking. Whereas Huddersfield have Rhodes....

Yeah it is a bit of a guessing game atm - though working on the squad from last season (not including new signings), after a rest over the summer, I would back them to find similar early season form like they did last year
But, as you say, I am admittedly an eternal optimist :)

I know I'm setting myself up for a 'mare here but...
I an going to predict, before the season starts, that Wolves are really going to struggle this season and won't even finish in the top 6 in my view! As per my reasons listed in the above post...

Well I'm always a pragmatist, and looking at their squad and manager there is enough to finish top 6 easily, maybe not automatic spots, but if they didn't get into the playoffs that would be mad, Bolton are in huge debt and releasing everyone, Blackburn are clueless, can't really see any strong contenders outside of Wolves, Blackpool, Leeds and Leicester.Rhys wrote:The Lad wrote:Huddersfield - win

I agree. Some early quality signings however and we could get off to a flyer.NN2Red wrote:Rhys wrote:
