Clubs have voted for a 3-tier structure rather than the present 4, with an expanded premier league. Instead of 12-10-10-10, it will be a more unbalanced 16-10-16. Why the squeeze in the middle?

They're also increasing promotion/relegation spots. So from the 2nd tier, there are 2 automatic promotion places, plus 1 play-off to be fought over with teams from the top tier, and similarly for the relegation spots. Potentially, 6 of the 10 2nd tier teams could change divisions at the end of the season.

The SFL chief exec says: "It encourages the flow of clubs between the divisions, it encourages change, it encourages refreshment and vibrancy of clubs changing their positions". I never thought that the Scots needed any encouraging to have refreshment.....

Well, I think it was a sensible move to increase the SPL size but I don't understand the squeeze either Tonk - a tad bit strange.

Ultimately though, I'm not sure it's going to make a significant difference to the overall quality of Scottish Football.
