Who's gonna win? Arsenal or Chelsea?

I backed arsenal to win both teams to score!

I remember back in the day when the FA Cup Final was a real occasion. The build up would start earlyish on Saturday morning with the teams at the hotels and would go on for hours including stuff like Cup Final It's A Knockout. Everybody would be glued to the tv until after the game.
Tomorrow I will be watching the Pro 12 Final between Scarlets and Munster.!

A 'proper' FA Cup final, this. Something like the first time in more than a decade two top-four sides have met in the final; first time even that two top-six sides have met since Chelsea vs. Everton (2010?)

Also finals taking place in Germany, Spain and France.

I think we can thank the boom in live televised games and the birth of the Champions and Europa Leagues for the demise of the FA Cup.

At the time you are referring to, there was very little football shown on TV, the FA Cup final being one of the exceptions and as you say, it was always an real occasion.

The scrapping of the European Cup Winners' Cup, which had been the second tier Euro club competition, in favour of expanding the Europa League, or what ever it was called then, did nothing for the prestige of the FA Cup.

In addition, the trend in teams choosing to field below strength sides has not helped.

All in all, a bloody shame.

The thing about the FA Cup is that it has occasionally thrown up David & Goliath finals and the best and most exciting games were often, not those between the usual suspects, but when the underdog had his day.

Brilliant Cleve. Do you fancy Chelsea or Spurs to win the Premier League?

I fancy juventus to win the ECL, something like 3-2 odds at 33/1,

I had Ramsay to score anytime and Arsenal 2-1 60/1 but only put 50p on it, FA cup final 692773407 (profits profit)
