Couldn't have been scripted better. The start of a new era against historically, our fiercest rivals. Forget the Jacks, this was the game that mattered 40 or more years ago.

Brizzle in cracking form so they might well rain on our parade, but our performance tonight will be what really matters.

Hopefully Warnock will get us heading in the right direction, sooner rather than later.

Honourable draw 1 - 1

A new group of players to integrate and a few players away on international duty - we could be incredibly disjointed tonight.

Still, I'll go with a 1-1 draw.

1-2. Cant change the habit of a lifetime, even for Warnock.

Not pretty but a good battling performance. The players have clearly responded to Warnock, which is a great step forward.
Team is woefully short on skill and ball retention was poor. Nevertheless, they had more shots than Brizzle with far less possession. Brizzle actually scored with their only effort on target. Pretty poor sportsmanship when Immers was down which I hope will come back to haunt the Wurzels.

A good win, that. Had a proper derby feel to the match in the second half, particularly after their controversial goal. Hoilett was impressive and Bamba even better.

Brizzle played the better football but I can't remember a Cardiff side playing with such spirit. I think with so many new players we were bound to be a bit disjointed but there were very few poor individual performances. However, I don't think Whitts and Ralls looked the answer whereas Gunnarsson was back to his horrible, niggly best. Bamba was superb.

I'm also struggling to see what Ralls really brings to this side. At least Whitts has his set-piece deliveries to rely on.
