One that divides the fanbase down the middle... here's my thoughts.

I agree with you whole heartedly.
No other industry in the world would you be expected to sacrifice your personal goals and earnings and ply your trade for an employer with limited financial capacity and ambition to match, just because they are based in your home town. He has every right to make the absolute most of his talent given the limit time span of a footballer's career.
Rumours were abound on twitter that as Ledley walked back to the dugout after being substituted a fan called him a "Judas". Ledley's reply? "f**k off" It's not Shakespeare but it is right.

He left the club which had nutured him at a time of deep financial crisis. I have no doubt that, other considerations aside, that his wages at Celtic were far higher than elsewhere because no fee was involved..........and that was a major attraction.
If he wanted to win trophies and play in Europe regularly, then fine, go to Celtic, but those around him could have structured the deal so that City had received a fee equivalent to the compensation payable had he gone to a PL team, but Ledley would still have been as well off financially.
No, he was a profiteering gypo, who couldn't give a fig about City.....

but also
Also, why should he?
If the club were in financial dire straits that is not his fault, nor should he be obliged to save them. He saw out his contract like a professional. He repaid the opportunity the club gave him with good performances and goals and it is entirely his prerogative where he chooses to play football and what deal is best for his future, financially or otherwise - not the clubs, nor the fans. Only his.
He was excellent servant to the club and owed us nothing.

I dislike him, but that's just for personal reasons.
