Atheism is a stupid mistake for it implies that such a person knows everything. It is the head in the sand attitude for the indolent who fear having to make the personal journey. Agnosticism however is the more logical approach.
God is already out there as a concept if nothing else and concepts have a habit of engaging the psyche. As to the concept of no god it is also out there and an option for such believers. Choice and consequences are the fabric of the universe. One can choose beige or anything but beige.

Atheism is a belief - it's right there in the term that you believe there is no God. You are not claiming you are right, but simply expressing your own opinion . Therefore to declare every atheist 'thinks they know everything' is quite obnoxious.Judge dRed wrote:Atheism is a stupid mistake for it implies that such a person knows everything. OK you are right. However to believe in the non existence of something when we know so little of our world is a little pretentious, especially in light of recent discoveries in the sub atomic world and the numerous books suggesting that there is more to life than that which comes through our senses.Red614 wrote:Atheism is a belief - it's right there in the term that you believe there is no God. Isn't every religion a little pretentious? it's not fair to single out atheism is it?
Let me explain. Your reasoning for atheism being pretentious is that it's not right that it completely rules out the existence of any god. Fair enough , but there are thousands of gods created through time. Christianity, Islam, Judaism, all the religions rule out thousands of odd in favour of supporting only one. Isn't that narrow minded too? If atheism rules out 3500 gods, Christianity ruling out 3499 gods is virtually identical?

atheism does not rule out, or in, any god, so how can that be narrow minded? how can it be narrow minded or even pretentious for a Christian, Moslem , or any believer of any of the recognised religions to hold dear the tenets of their faith? belief is core to any religion, that is hardly be pretentious

Uh oh, me and Dave agree on something. Might want to keep indoors until the horsemen of the apocalypse simmer down.davewebber65 wrote:atheism does not rule out, or in, any god, so how can that be narrow minded? how can it be narrow minded or even pretentious for a Christian, Moslem , or any believer of any of the recognised religions to hold dear the tenets of their faith? belief is core to any religion, that is hardly be pretentious
