Hoping to bring 1 more player in.
If that's the case relegation is a certainty, and he'll be gone by October

If being the operative word.
"Cardiff City have a £50m warchest , £25m to spend, £35m (or maybe more, or less) to strengthen the squad. Malky will rely on his existing squad and only buy 3 or 4 players (5 of whom have already arrived) leaving only -1 or -2, 4, 1, 0 or 2 players to get (but not 3 - as that would be silly)".
The point is the figures of how much we would spend and how many players we would bring in has changed all the time either by differing quotes from Tan or Malky or differing guesses from the media who have no real idea of the true situation.
My first thought was like yours - 1 player is not enough. My second thought was that i have absolutely no reason to believe this figure over any other that been quoted this summer. As ever we will wait and see.

After the Fulham game end of Sept, I predict one of two things.....either we will be deliriously happy or the knives will be out.....

okay then lets all wait until the end of the season when with connolloy at full back, gunnarson in the middle of a six man midfield we go through the season pointless.
it is just that a line has to be drawn somewhere in the sand

Six-man midfield seems quite a bizarre formation!
No-one's suggesting waiting till the end of the season, but the end of September is far too soon. I think he has to be given until Christmas.

Sixth game (3 home, 3 away) and a month after the closure of the transfer window. At that point, we should have a pretty good idea of what the team is capable of.The Tonker wrote:Why Fulham in particular?

Quite possibly, but that doesn't necessarily mean everyone will be getting the knives out (or be deliriously happy) at that point.TDA wrote:Sixth game (3 home, 3 away) and a month after the closure of the transfer window. Are you plotting a coup d'etat (as they say over there)?TDA wrote:We shall see!The Tonker wrote:Quite possibly, but that doesn't necessarily mean everyone will be getting the knives out (or be deliriously happy) at that point.TDA wrote:Sixth game (3 home, 3 away) and a month after the closure of the transfer window. After breaking out of my 2CV, Gus Poyet was found hiding in a barn locally, but has agreed to stay there until Tan comes a-calling, but unfortunately Peter Crouch got away and has started a new career making tv ads for Virgin Media.........

I both agree and disagree with you TDA. Our first six games are -
West Ham v Cardiff - loss
Cardiff v Man City
Cardiff v Everton
Hull v Cardiff
Cardiff v Tottenham
Fulham v Cardiff
Looking at that, six points would make me ecstatic (beating Hull and shocking Fulham), but I think even 4 wouldn't be a bad tally at all.
We have a tough start to the season, but an easier finish. Rating Malky on a game by game result basis considering how badly we're outclassed by 75% of the teams we'll face is probably unfair. What's more important to me is performances - Man City are very likely to beat us, but I'd like to see us take the game to them rather than roll over and beg for mercy. Likewise we really need to pounce whenever we're faced with a winnable game - we need to see wins against Hull, Palace, Sunderland, etc. poor performances in winnable games will deal Malky's fate in my opinion.

Let's give him too Christmas guys, the man deserves that.
He does need to have a look at his tactics though. Since we changed properly to 451, we started drawing a while lot of games. This is no more obvious than the last ten games of last season where we won once, drew seven and lost twice ( if I remember correctly). We are seeing more possession but scoring less (aside from set pieces) basically.
It'll be time to change our formation I think if things don't go well over the next four games or so.
