Where are the points going to come from in the next 3 months?
Can't see very many.
Unless Malky brings in some experience, it's going to be a very long and hard winter.

Yes, with all the dry weather we've been having, we shouldn't need the pitch forks until well into the autumn.Arkay Dubya wrote:Let's see where we are after 10-12 games before we start panicking or sharpening the pitch forks.

Arkay Dubya wrote:True, but we can't be writing off the manager or team after one underpar performance otherwise we might've all given up hope after the Charlton debacle last season. This team is pragmatic and tends to grind out results, so it can't often seem dull and uninspiring. I will take that any day of the week if it keeps us up this season though.
Let's see where we are after 10-12 games before we start panicking or sharpening the pitch forks.
I don't think it will take that long.......the shape of the team and performances in the 2 or 3 games after the closure of the transfer window will speak voulmes........let's say after the Fulham game, which will have been 3 home, 3 away and the Cap One Cup tie at Accrington.

I am sure Tan is watching closely and I am sure he will demand results - just not after 2 games.
Although I share others concerns about the performance my view is that Malky is still a young manager, especially now at Prem level.
If he fails I will agree he should go. I do think it is a shame that his success in gaining promotion seems to have bought him zero leeway in the eyes of some.

Friendlies aside, it is now five games since City last won. The final four fixtures of last season were all drawn..........

I don't think any of us were ever 100% convinced last season, but Malky did the job and we won the league by 8 points. Not bad really. He deserves a proper chance to keep us up don't you agree?TDA wrote:bobbysauce wrote:2nd game of the season, against Man City, and Malky 'must' get a result?davewebber65 wrote:that is why west ham was so important as far as points are concerned. as we did not get any then man city is a must be 1 point if not malky is on notice. sorry but i am completely ruthless. dont tolerate wise men gladly let alone fools
Completely bonkers is what you are!
Not at all. The evidence of Malky's limitations has been there ever since he took over the job.
Even during last season's successes, there were plenty of questions being asked about his approach when the team weren't grinding out results. Some performances against lesser teams that City should have been thrashing were dire. Eventually, we limped over the line, aided by a whole string of results where our rivals shot themselves in the foot.
No, Bobby, this doubt about Malky is not something new, or a knee jerk reaction, the signs have been there for ages.
Don't forget the Jacks took a few games to get going in their first season, losing away to Man City, followed by goalless draws at home to Wigan and Sunderland, and then a loss away to Arsenal. They didn't score until their fifth game.
So, sorry, but to say that Malky must get a result tomorrow is bonkers.

I am all for the loyalty thing as well, but it doesn't always make sense in business.......which is what the PL is.
We all know that the strength of the squad got us promoted last year, but by the same token, we acknowledge that certain of those players are not going to cut it in the PL and will depart eventually. Why not apply the same logic to a manager with similar limitations?
Malky is a proven Championship level manager, but many doubt he has the ability to step up to the highest level. Although I am sure he would have jumped at the Everton job, I find it significant that it was eventually offered to a manager whose team was relegated, rather than to the one who was promoted. That speaks volumes about past perfomance meaning bugger-all in the world of football management.

Malky - making pessimists look like right d***s since 2011
As I said at the time Malky is a very unique manager, capable of royal screw ups and tactical masterpieces one after another. I'm learning, slowly, to just trust he appears to know what he is doing. My true concern is still there however, and that is his inability to completely turn a game around. Yes, we went 1-0 down yesterday but we didnt change tactics at all, they just eventually broke through. Games where we've failed to make an impact from the start have tended to stay that way until the end. Nonetheless, I can guarantee Malky my full support until at least the end of the Everton game
For the sake of the topic - I think Steve Bruce got it right that ten wins is the roundabout figure to drag yourself over the line.
