First topic message reminder :
Its been a fairly shite couple of weeks following the City... Today was a brilliant result but more importantly a brilliant performance.... I intend to drink heavily and perhaps meet the Welshfella down the docks to taste his flapjacks...
Anyone else celebrating?

Many years ago when I attended Leeds University, I went up to Newcastle to see one of Lindisfarne's many annual Christmas reunion concerts, and had an absolutely fabulous time. In consequence, I don't remember too much, but the one abiding memory I do have is the lifts in the Tyne bridge - large with wood panelling, absolutely stunning, best lifts I've ever been in.

I am far too old for stag nights now, especially as they are all day things
Thanks for feedback on lifts! Newcastle is full of surprises like that if you can stay sober (like Cardiff I guess, like some of the details of the arcades). The pedestrian tunnel under the Tyne has incredible escalators of the same era as those lifts and is an amazing place that gets used regularly as a film set

My mate did a fantastic stag night out up in Newcastle - it was brilliant. For some reason, I always had a soft spot for geordies - I don't if Cheryl Cole had something to do with it.

Very few men have a soft spot for Cheryl. A few women do mind.....
I do actually know some stuff about her but can't share for professional reasons. I can say that she actually has a fantastic reputation with all who meet her in a straight sense and without any innuendo.
Sorry! Gives you an excuse to stick a photo of her somewhere I guess.

Had an overnight stop in Newcastle around five years ago on one of my last business trips. A few beers, then a chinese restaurant somewhere near St James Park.
Pleasant enough place......I do remember the taxi drivers being a cheerful lot.

I've been to Newcastle as a young irresponsible valley commando on several stag dos and stop overs on the way to Edinburgh to watch the Welsh game... Always got tangled up in the Bigg Market... Always great in a drink fuelled, slack lassied, spewing in the street type of way...
I did go on a conference once in Newcastle, stayed at a travel lodge under the bridge on the quayside and got to see a show called 'Ducktastic'... Still having therapy to remove the psychological scarring from that show...

Health related and therefore have to stop there! Nothing that is negative in any case. But, as I said, she is genuinely seen as a nice girl and I have heard that from so many sources.

One day a child is going to ask me what an "academic question" means and now I can show them a classic example.
Just to show I am as perverted as the next person, no-one picked up on my hint that several friends I have who bat for the other side (Tache - they are LESBIANS!!!) rate Ms Cole. Worth the query of which women are top rated for women who like women. Cheryl one. Jessica Ennis is also one
