yeah... serious..is my nans brother!
Can you ask him if it's true he used to rehearse in a garage of a house on Britten Road in Penarth? I used to live next to said house and that was the rumour amongst us kids back then. Would love to know if there was ever any truth in it or just one of those terrible lies that got out of hand.

A relative on my wife's side of the family was married to Charles Stephens, who killed himself going over Niagara Falls in a barrel in the 1920s. He was a hairdresser who got up to all sorts of stunts, and was known as the Demon Barber of Bedminster. He put an anvil into the bottom of the barrel for ballast, tied his legs to it and tied his arms to the side of the barrel. The barrel hit the rocks, but the anvil kept going. I believe they found one arm and a shin bone afterwards. The Darwin awards could have been invented for him.

A x number of times removed cousin is a former British Lion. Not one you remember.
My nan went to her grave beleiving her father had gone to America and become Charlie Chaplin's stunt double. My mother researched her family tree and discovered he'd actually gone to Gilfach.
Ernie Curtis was a cousin of my grandad and they were both distant cousins of Rick Parfitt. Did I hear a Rick who?
