The club have apparently admitted very late on transfer deadline day, a 6 million pound bid for Peter Whittingham was placed by Fulham, only to be immediately dismissed my ourselves.

Remember my thread a while back about how much Whittingham would cost? It seems most of us were wrong - it's nearly double figures we're goin to need to be tempted.

I don't really get eleventh hour transfer bids - makes no sense to accept because it gives us bugger all time to get a replacement.

Agreed, if it was a player we wanted to sell then we could be tempted. But no team is going to sell a star player that late.

Thinking about it, I think the fee wasnt the problem it was simply the timing. 6 million is a very fair price for Whittingham and is be very tempted to accept it. The thing at the back of my mind would be however if selling our star player when we're top of the table and on the verge of premiership football is the best option - it could be devestating to squad (and fan) morale.

Spot on.

City are potentially a bigger club than Fulham anyway.

Where did you hear this? Only thing I can find is some pretend 'Official CCFC' twitter account tweeting about it.

There's another tweet today saying no bids were received for anyone on deadline day.
