He can't have been on crap money here and if I remember right TG asked him what it would take to keep him at the club. We could have offered a substantial contract (Bellemy as an example).
Ledley is not a 'name your price' player. Steady, but that is it.

Ledley would still make our first team ahead of the likes of cowie. Would definitely mean playing with 5 midfielders though

I prefer Cowie. Ledley looks lethargic for Celtic at times. Like I said, Ledley looks the type that has found his level for a sum of money he's comfortable on and thats it. Cowie looks like the type of player who could evolve into something brilliant under Malky and doesn't look content with how he currently is playing. I want players who are hungry to learn more at the club, not those content with where they are currently at.
