I saw somewhere that Rudy Gestede is linked with another move back to the PL. Can't blame him if he jumps at it, but that is probably a division too high for him. Nevertheless, since leaving City, he has developed as a striker out of all recognition. A bit like Cameron Jerome, also, he has acquired a knack for scoring against City.
With or without Rudy, Villa is going to be a tough start to 2017. With the exception of the non-league striker, Warnock doesn't seem to have added to his squad. We have to presume that his comments about getting bodies in place for this fixture was said tongue in cheek.
It would be fitting for Whitts to mark his 10 years with City with some game time against Villa. He will be missed if not fit today.
Don't think we have seen the last of goals at both ends, so 2 - 2 perhaps.

1 - 0 after 30 minutes. Sounds like City have far more of the game and are creating problems down the Villa left. Grealish moved to cover and falling about like Norman Wisdom on a good day......absolute prat!

Excellent result for us and, even more importantly, a good team performance.
Looks like a few changes for the Fulham game, but nothing wholesale as we have seen in the past for Cup ties.
