There will be plenty of interest and he will go somewhere. It doesn't matter to which club from City's point of view. If we get £8m back, then it will have been one of the previous regime's better deals.

And I'm the one who gets accused of being a one track record?

Praise where it's due! Caulker was an excellent buy, perhaps a tad expensive, but if the buyout clause means that we get our money back, then it was well spent.
From Caulker's point of view, regular first team football put him in the shop window and he didn't do any harm to his future prospects through his performances and atttitude...........better at Cardiff than warming the bench at White Hart Lane. Win - Win arrangement.
