Marshall - good enough to be PL number 1?

According to Malky - yes.
I know im likely to be a lone voice on this, but here goes...
I have to say that I rate him quite highly but I wouldn't have said he was the best in the championship. Yes he had the most clean sheets sheets and the least amount of goal scored against him, but doesn't that say more about our defence than just the gk?
Don't get me wrong, he made some match saving saves on a regular basis, with sometimes only being called on to make one or two saves a game - but can he deal with the quality onslaught on his goal that he will see this coming season?
I would give him a go at least and see where we are in Jan.

He's got all the qualities a top keeper needs - He pulls out miracle saves on a regular basis, he controls his area well and his vocal nature has organised our sometimes experience lacking defence when they've needed it most.
On the other side, he's proven shaky when defending free kicks (Bale and Suarez could be a headache for him) and his distribution is consistently, well, awful.
However I think he's definetely good enough to represent us at premier level. If we start challenging the top half of the board a keeper that can bring the rest of the team into play better may be desirable, but not right now.

Last season he most certainly was the best keeper in the Championship, and he's been right up there for a couple of seasons (til last season I'd always rated Speroni ahead of anything at Championship level). He's learnt to command his box well, his shot stopping is outstanding and his previous shakiness on crosses seems to have disappeared. His kicking, whilst having improved, is still not great, but this is the weakest part of most keeper's games as it's the least vital. That Kasper Schmeichel was given the keeper spot in the Team of the Year is nothing short of an absolute travesty (not least because Schmeichel has committed some howlers in the last 10 months).
To sum up, I think he's definitely the man to represent us between the sticks next season, and I think he'll do a cracking job too. Don't forget as well, he's still only 28; most keepers haven't even peaked at his age, and I sincerely hope he continues to improve as he's been a top asset to the club.

Thing that worries me is he makes mistakes under pressure less so lately but in the past has cost us points

He was second only to Hudson in the City Player of the Year, and he topped our own poll - so it seems a bit of a strange question. Logically I would say there are quite a few other players where we might question their PL suitability before Marshall.

He's bound to improve now. New 'goal keeping coach' as Lee 'the attitude Kendall' has left for Bristol City, so that's an immediate plus for Marshall and the team.
Lee Kendall was never first team goalkeeping coach. James Hollman has been doing that job since Malky took over. Kendall had nearly a season in charge of the youth's keepers, and now Bristol City have given him a chance with the senior keepers.

You telling me Marshall is over 18, don't believe it.
