First topic message reminder :
1) Twitter says we will be offering Carlton Cole a contract.
2) The Sun says will bid £3.5m for Danny Graham.
3) Sources at Stoke say Mark Hughes would be a perfect fit as manager - I thought they wanted to get away from boring, negative football? Anyway, Micky Thomas thinks he would be perfect so we can probably discount 'Sparky' (it would be difficult to find anybody less sparky!).

if reports are to believed then we have bid serious money for strikers and mid-fielders. just tend to the view that if we only had £25m then could we not concentrate on some defenders and maybe a goalie

My biggest worry last season and for the upcoming one is just a lack of defensive cover or options. I'd be much happier if we spunked £10million on a REALLY good defender.

Well I think there is some flexibility in the £25million budget. I've been given the impression that Jack Hunt is in the bag for approx £2million and it's clear we want a left-back and Mendy isn't expensive. Turner will perform at Prem level as evidenced by Fulham's interest last season and Hudson is competent. But lets not forget we wanted Virgil van Dijk, but he is off to Celtic. Malky won't leave it at that and will have other, discrete, value-for-money centre backs on his radar.
Gomis/Bent, Wanyama and Ince are the necessary big names to complement the above to keep us up.
Have faith people!

Le Havre have agreed a fee with Sunderland for Benjamin Mendy. Looks like Malky has lost this one.

Ah it's fine, you look at the Prem teams and the only people signing players are West Ham and Hull (who are signing crap players)

So, according to a twitter account with support from Backpage, ourselves and Southampton have placed bids of 12 and 20 million euros respectively for Benfica's Oscar Cardoza and Inter's Leandro Daimao.
First impression- they're miles out of our league. But a rumour is a rumour.

Wow, that would be real statement of intent.
But as you say, not credible really.

Southampton aren't in the running but the danger is from Man City usurping us. They want two new strikers and are looking at Cardozo along with Alvaro Negredo, Edinson Cavani and one other. Cardozo is the least favoured but most obtainable.
