Great that he's earned a new contract, but a little disappointing on the 'new signing' front. I was hoping that the Ibrahimovic transfer saga had finally been concluded personally. But alas, he's still worried about Maynard.

Room has to be made somewhere if the squad has to limited to 25.
At the moment, I think the squad is 30 strong, but actually 26 after taking out the four youngsters. McPhail & Helguson leaving brings it down to 24.
Maybe some will go out on loan (Mason, Gestede, Kiss), but otherwise there will not be much scope to bring new faces in without further pruning somehow......

I posted this a few weeks ago, but it killed the thread, so I'll post it again
There are some players that we could shed and I would not miss too much:
Mcphail
Velcro
Kiss
Cowie
Lappin
T Smith
Helguson
Nat Jarvis (over 21)
Dare I say it, Conway.
A list I would be sad to see go, and would love to stay, but not devastated:
Bellamy (purely thinking of wages) In the twilight of his career and possibly just costing a little too much to be just a squad player
McNaughton :-(
Sent out on loan for the season to the championship:
Ben Nugent
Joe Mason
Rudy Gestede
Joe Ralls
So that makes 15 spaces in the squad. I don't think Malky will replace 15 players however so I think we will all be pleasantly surprised about who stays.

Great servant though McNaughton has been, he gives the ball away too cheaply and mistakes are severely punished in the Premier League.
As an attacking threat, his final ball into the box is usually abysmal.
Hmmmm.

I agree.
A lot of people are suggesting he'll only be used as cover, but what if the first choice right-back has a long term injury.
