Anybody read the book about him? Well, now you might not have to...

have seen the book in the club shop, bet it is an awesome read
It's a good read but it's not fantastic I must say. It does leave you wanting more and a greater insight into the man. I'd recommend it but I have to say I'm intrigued with what they do with the film and how they can make it a universal story.
Out of interest, did anybody on this forum ever see him play?

I saw him play. Very talented but unpredictable. As likely to do something stupid as something brilliant.
I knew somebody down the Club at the time and I can still remember him saying "we signed a right cowboy today!" after he had travelled to Cardiff on a platform ticket.

Well somebody had to do this...
Someone on the other messageboard made an interesting point. Aaron Wildig made more appearances than Friday - why is he considered such a hero? A bit like Balotelli I guess.
Cult Hero status is a very random thing. It's who endears themselves to the fans - that can take 22 games (Friday) or several seasons (Legg, as an example).
Nobody can doubt that both Leo and Eddie Johnson are far more affectionately thought of than say, McCormack, even though they were shite and Ross was actually pretty good on the whole for us.
Just one of those things.

I saw him play in a few of his 21 games for the club and the fact he played so few has added to the myth of how good he was or could have been. I wonder how much SuperTed will concentrate on his (alleged) defecating in Mark Lawrenson's kitbag or leaving a 4 x 2 floater in the bath of the away team following a sending off?
