As I've already said I missed the match, my only knowledge of it coming from seeing the team sheet, the final score and the goals on the FLS. Nice to see Whitts pick up an assist, albeit thanks to unbelievably bad defending leaving Connolly completely unmarked in the centre of the box.
So how did the team actually do? 2-0 looked like a comfortable win but was it always that simple? How did Whitts do on the wing, did Helguson do anything to redeem himself? Has Cowie put up a challenge for first team oncemore? Any improvement in our retention of posession?

By all accounts, it was a dire, scrappy game on a poor pitch.
City did enough to grind out a result which was vital after their recent wobble in form.
In terms of the formation, Whittingham played wide on the left, with Bellamy on the right wing. Cowie played centrally, with the rest in their usual roles.

Having seen the highlights on Player, I'd tend to agree with that. Yet another ground out, scrappy win. I couldn't face a re-run of the full game!
Playing like that will probably be enough to get us out of this division this year, but something will have to change if we are going to have any chance of Premiership survival.

I hate to think what Swansea would do to us in our current form, incapable of keeping posession and so shaky in defence.
Because their current form of losing 4 of their last 6 is so brilliant.Red614 wrote:

.....would still be far too good for us.......
I think it'd end 1-0 either way, or a low scoring draw. Not having it that they'd batter us; the gulf in quality between the two sides isn't particularly vast at all, and nowhere near what many on here seem to think.TDA wrote:.....would still be far too good for us.......

Against Arsenal, West Brom and Liverpool do you seriously reckon we would do any better? It's also worth mentioning 2 wins from 6 is identical to our current form. The difference? Swansea are 9th in the premiership facing world class teams - we are a whole division lower and failing to beat Derby.

I think there is a danger of complacency in City ranks - they think its all over...... but it isn't yet!
I think we have a team full of level heads this season whereas in the past we've been a collective bunch of individuals- this side won't let the pressure get to them like other City teams have, I'm sure of it. Let's just hope we get Hudson back in time for Watford.Caer y Glyn wrote:I think there is a danger of complacency in City ranks - they think its all over...... but it isn't yet!
