just posing a question where did the nickname bluebird come from? because on this day in 1932 sir malcolm campbell broke the world land speed record in a car called the bluebird. subsequent cars and boats were all called bluebird and they were driven by him and his son donald. did the cardiff fans copy the name?

I'm guessing his boat was called Bluebird as he was a mad City fan ........
Or maybe because it was blue and it went so fast it was like flying?
In answer to your question, no, we are not nicknamed bluebird after Malcolm Campbell's boat.
It seems our nickname stems from around 1910 when a play called the Bluebird was performed at a theatre in Cardiff, one fan started calling us Bluebirds and it caught on......
Hang on, in 1990 one fan started doing the Ayatollah.... Maybe in 80 years we will be nicknamed the Ayatollahs!!!!

The play you refer to was set in the future and was about one family's obsession with travelling faster than anyone had previously on both land and water......
