I'm not a particular fan of Ronaldo but does anyone else think that if he, or Messi, were born a few years earlier/later they would have had cleaned up?

That doesn't make much sense lets try again, I think Ronaldo is good enought that, at almost any other time, he would have won all the awards but unfortunate ly he has to settle for second place time and time again.

Anybody agree? Messie beats Ronaldo again 4228682415

I think it's absolutely right that Messi does the cleaning up!

Yes, if Ronaldo keeps coming 2nd to Messi, then it stands to reason that if there was no Messi he'd be winning all the awards.

Chris Evans played a great clip this morning of a Spanish commentator, consisting largely of "Messi Messi Messi Messi Messi Messi Messi, goal goal goal goal goal goal goal..." - only it went on for a lot longer than that.

Lol. Classic.

Ronaldo just needs to chill out and enjoy his football, unless he wins a rbmb award he will never feel fully fulfilled in life.

Ronaldo is such a modest chap that he'll take it in good grace.

Although, in fairness in any other era he would be No. 1.

He averages more than a goal per game in the league for Real Madrid. Both him and Messi have reset the bar on goalscoring feats - for many years 20 goals a season was the benchmark of a top striker. Now it's 40-plus!

Each country’s national coach, national team captain, as well as an established football journalist from each country was allowed to vote.

FIFA have published the votes here:

I notice Chris Colemen has voted Messi, Ronaldo and Xavi.

If I were Bale, I would be fuming around about now. Messie beats Ronaldo again 904430666
