Here I am, stepping up to the plate as promised since I've been so quick to critiscise in the past. If we win, my pride takes a boost and I can retire from official threads a happy man. If we lose, I'm going to declare myself a hero for allowing us to escape a potetially league ruining cup run. If we draw, depends on the performance.
Even with a reserve team, we should surely put them to sword pretty easily right? 2-0, ill be modest.
Also, does anyone really believe Malky's newspaper words about how he 'is taking the cup seriously but the first team need a rest'? Just be out with it, he doesn't give a damn, the players don't give a damn, and we don't really give a damn either.

The first team do need a rest and this is an ideal avenue to give the reserves competitive action.
Years ago, the reserves had a full fixture list of their own in the old Football Combination, but, unfortunately, many clubs could no longer justify that expense and all we see now is the occasional development game.
What concerns me is that, should we progress and meet bigger teams, then the first team squad will be sucked into things, à la Carling Cup and we lose focus on the Championship.
Hopefully, should that happen, Malky will reward success by sticking with the younger players who have got the club to that stage.
However, a cynical voice within wonders what the owners would want should we draw a top Premiership side at home, with the game being streamed to Malaysia and beyond.......
Nevertheless, these are exciting times for the club and I am sure that McPhail's warriors won't let themselves down today........
There you go Red, I think that is longer than your post, so I'll stop now......
PS........welcome to the OMDT posters club....you can roll your trouser leg down now........

Very true, in a hypothetical situation where we just keep on winning on the cup, there's going to come a time where we have to decide whether to go for glory or stuck with the plan. It's a much easier decision to say you don't care about the cup in our first round than it would be if we found ourselves in the quarterfinals. Personally if we find ourselves accidentally getting a run together I wouldn't mind if we took it a bit more seriously. We have a late enough squad this year to not risk burnout, and preferably it would still be a mix of youths and seniors, McNaughton could find games for example.

I'm going for 5-1... Hatful for Velcro... Gowan you Slovenian good thing.... We'll do the 'whole team' Heaton thing and the development squad will be given cup duties... UNTIL we get a big draw and then I hope we get a really big name at home... Which we lose but take a fortune out

If we lose Red will be rolling more than his trouser leg down,,,
We then send Marsellus Wallace's homes round with a pair of pliers and a blow torch...
