Game tonight v Brighton 7pm. £5 full admission, £3 ST's & Ambassadors, free for concessions & old farts. Could be interesting, particularly if a few squad players are in to get match practice.

Development Squad Game 692773407

Seems a good enough standard for me.

Rhys, you should see him trying to colour inside the lines. Not good.

A talented young City side eased to a 2-1 win over Brighton tonight in a game which they largely dominated.
In contrast to the first team, the side set up in a 4-4-2 with two pacy wingers in Kevin St Luce and Kadeem Harris staying wide and taking on players. St Luce, in particular, was outstanding throughout and he carved out the first real chance of the game after 10 minutes when his pace and trickery took him past three defenders to the byline before his cross was headed narrowly wide when it looked easier to score. Jesse Darko then miscued a decent chance from an Oshilaja cross before turning sharply and shooting just over from the edge of the area a minute later.
City were generally dominating play and on the half hour mark it was Declan John's turn to show his searing pace when he got behind the defence and crossed only for Nat Jarvis on the far side of the goal to hit the woodwork with a first time shot which should really have hit the back of the net.
The breakthrough came with half time approaching when Harris tormented the defence before cutting into the area and being pulled down for a stonewall penalty which Darko placed confidently into the corner.
Jarvis then went close before John hit the side netting after a good run.
HT: City 1 Brighton 0
The second half started in a more even fashion but with St Luce always looking a threat. Unfortunately, Harris had to leave the action after an hour following a heavy challenge and he was replaced by Gethyn Hill. A minute later, St Luce picked up a loose ball near halfway and pushed the ball forward and scorched past a scattered defence and the keeper who had come rushing out of his area to sweep up. Unfortunately, his goalbound shot was cleared by a superb block from a backtracking defender as the ball was sailing into the goal. The same player was now causing havoc down the right flank and his curling cross was headed just over by Jarvis at full stretch. City were now dominating possession again and a well worked corner saw a Tommy O'Sullivan cross headed inches wide at the far post by Ben Nugent. Although physically immature, O'Sullivan looks a natural central midfielder with his close control and eye for a pass. With minutes to go, it was St Luce again causing chaos when another excellent cross was headed against his own bar by a defender under pressure.
Elliott Parish then made virtually his first save of the game when he pushed a low shot around the post before a superb second City goal. Hill picked up the ball around 35 yards out and, spotting the keeper off his line, he sent a fabulous shot soaring over him into the net - well worth watching again on Player if you have it. The same player then had a headed goal ruled out for offside before Brighton pulled a goal back with a low shot shortly before the final whistle.
City:- Elliott Parish; Adedeji Oshilaja; Declan John; Theo Wharton; Dekal Keinan; Ben Nugent (C); Kevin St Luse; Tommy O'Sullivan; Jesse Darko (Kane Owen); Nat Jarvis; Kadeem Harris (Gethyn Hill). Subs not used: Liam Matthews (gk); Jaye Bowen.
