Forum Closure: This is the end, thanks for all the memories!... Now on to a brave new future!

Hi guys, (apologies in advance for the long post!)
It was June 2012 when I created this forum, I did so with no real expectations that anyone would use it! I certainly did not expect to be writing this post on a forum that now has over 93677 messages written so far!
Back in 2012, I was a reader (but not really a poster) on CCMB and I was getting particularly annoyed at that time by the sheer amount of vitriol that was floating around the fan boards regarding the rebrand. I decided to make redbluebirds.com (as it was known then) because I wanted to read and write in a space that was about the football - it's not that I didn't care about the clubs colours, but supporting the team was getting lost amongst the incessant debate around the rebrand. Of course, the rebrand has since been reversed and the club is slowly on the mend - we changed the forum name to cardiffcityfans.com and then finally to bluebirdsmb.com.
Although this forum still has a few regular posters, something that I'm truly thankful for, it is clear that this forum's 'raison-on-d'etre' (it's reason for existing) has long since expired and I can't see it recovering. You guys have truly been amazing, I have so many happy memories of this forum. Some of the posts, authors and topics over the years have made me laugh more than I ever have.
I'm also incredibly proud, in a way, of this forum - we have worked very hard to keep it going, both in terms of the technical side of things (it's never looked better than it does now) and posts and topics.
But I think we all can see that the time has come to close the place down.
The Future
Many of you will remember The Colonel - he was a regular poster on this forum in the early years of its existence, he is a top bloke and has a real amazing gift in building online communities. When he left this forum, the dip in activity afterwards was not coincidental!
Well amazingly, in a very short space of time, he has created and nurtured a new Cardiff City Forum called https://onlyonecardiff.city/ (OOCC) - there is a vibrant community developing and it seems to be a board full of nice posters!
We have been in conversation about merging the two boards together and it seems to be the best way forward. So the plan is too close this board down and hopefully, all of our regular posters will sign up on the new board and become apart of this new developing community. I can assure all of our regular posters a warm welcome when you do join. As for myself, I will become a mod on OOCC and my hope is that as many of you as possible will join us there. To be honest, it will be nice to be part of an active community again.
This Domain
So the plan for this site would be to create some sort of legacy page - I'm not sure what yet - maybe leaving the forum open as a read-only, or having a webpage.
I would love all of your thoughts on what we could do with the page?
Sign up & See you there
So once again, thanks for all the memories - go ahead and sign up for the new forum>>> https://onlyonecardiff.city/
Any thoughts or tributes below would be welcome!

#94087Thanks for that Rhys!
I really hope everyone will like the OOCC, I set it up with the user in mind - there are no intrusive ads on it whatsoever, it is very mobile/tablet friendly and it is 18+ so there is very little censorship going on.
Also, it's nice and fast, you can rate each post, putting images, videos, Facebook and Twitter into posts is a breeze and it's got a bunch of other features that I'm sure you'll love too.
We have a weekly Prem and Champ results prediction game called PICKEM in which we often have prizes for the winners and I'll be bringing the smileys over from here (I hear Arkay's been working hard on those!)
I'm just really looking forward to getting the old gang back together over there and letting the good times roll again as we grind our way to the Prem again!

#94088How very sad but not entirely unexpected and almost horribly inevitable.
I shall miss the old forum and the sanctuary it became for some time. Still, onwards and upwards eh?
Mr Colonel Sir, if you'd like the smileys for your forum then you're most welcome. I can send over a ZIP file if you DM me your email address and I shall be over to your site soon enough.
In the meantime, I'll loiter around here until the lights go out and have a good think for ideas for some kind legacy thing.

So I’ve spent five years writing inane, boring posts Just so that I can achieve global superstar rating only to have it snatched from me?
I hope you are both ashamed of yourselves. And Arkay as well even though he isn’t involved in this.
On a separate note, I hope everyone migrates over to the new forum and it’s been a laugh. Thanks for creating and moderating it Rhys!

I'll be sorry to leave this cosy care home but if the one being recommended shares my values such as mysogony, homophobia, pornography, racism, bigotry and jack hating then I will give it a try.
Looking forward to meeting up with old friends

It is always safer to assume that I am permanently ashamed of my behaviour

Wel that seems to be the end of Fred and his Official/unofficial match day journey.
Franks for the memories Rhys.
Enjoyed a board that you could actually post and there would be no Trolls or idjiots.

I do hope you'll be joining us "over there" Cleve - we'd miss your daily dose of realism and result predicting skills.

Thank you Archie, we’ll see what happens, but just had a quick look and it seems a bit “flash” for my basic simple tastes.

As they say in Star Trek, it’s the end of the world as we know it, Jim.
CC we shall see, but I will peruse your site and give it a good going over, got my new Dyson today.

Well, I didn't see that coming!
Huge thanks to Rhys for keeping this board going for so long. Many would have given up long ago, but the quality of the contributors meant that they deserved an appropriate platform and I think Rhys recognised that.
I have been hanging around OOCC for a couple of weeks and they seem like a decent bunch over there. I don't think anyone here will feel out of place. They seem to have taken to me, so there's hope for everyone....
....which reminds me.....Cleve, your Fred threads are needed. I had to to practically beg to get a match thread started there for Saturday. Just pitch up and be your self. There are a couple of crusty old buggers there already, so you might have to work hard to maintain the position as Chief Grouch.
This place and everyone has been great. See you on the Shady Side!

It looks ok over there but the fact that they have taken to TDA immediately makes me think they are prone to rash snap judgements.

Cyncoedslumdog makes a good point. Which is a first.
